That's a impressive list. Taco is still to be determined.....but I Think Byron has proven he can cover in this league...just not a free safety. And the others are pro bowlers.

@SiriusXMNFL: Stephen Jones on Dak improving: Dak is working on his game & accuracy. He has to trust the system. I think that was tough last year with @DezBryant in his ear. I think he'll have the year he had last year if not better! #Cowboys
@DezBryant: Here we go with that scapegoat shit.. i charged everything to the game and went the other way.. y’all know what the real problem is .. don’t put it on me with that bullshit.. garbage ass play calling.. Everybody lined up in the same spot for 17 weeks.

One of those things where someone takes things out of context to make a story
Jones actually said...
"He's gotta trust the system, which at times last year there was pressure, with Dez (Bryant) in his ear, to some degree Jason (Witten) in his ear, those great players want balls," Jones said. "And I think if he can get back to what we did the year before where we run the football consistently with Zeke (Elliott) and that great offensive line we have and let him really trust the system, work through his reads, which I think he'll do then I think he'll have...the type of year he had the year before."
Dez, of course, being Dez didn't look for the whole statement before blowing up

Couple post-#Cowboys visit thoughts:
1. I absolutely see why Chido is getting his hype. ⭐️
2. No idea what kind of weight it is, but Randy Gregory is noticeably thicker.
3. Jaylon is 100%. We can stop asking.
4. I bet all three Dallas QBs will be in the #NFL 8+ years.

@jonmachota: Zack Martin told he'll be remembered as the guy the Cowboys drafted instead of Johnny Manziel. "That's fine by me. I can live up to that."

The announcers didn't make too much of a point on the move that Gallup made. When he looked back for the ball, the DB did too. But Gallup streaked on to the endzone.

I like that he "glides" on the field. I think he is one of those who plays faster than he times. And he didn't time bad, it was in the 4.45 area I think. But to me he just has that gliding feel. Don't think he leads us in receiving this year, although it wouldn't surprise me at all, but I think year 2 he's our best wide out. It all depends on how he handles jamming at the line, that's the hardest thing for wr's to adjust to in the NFL imo. In college they have tons of those rail thin 5'9 guys who are purely cover and giving u 7 yards at the line of space. The nfl is obviously not like that at all.

I like to call it smooth speed. Straight line 40 times are great and all. But I tend to watch how players move in-game and in pads, and Gallup looked so smooth at CSU. That and is is highly rated by advanced stat trackers, like PFF, for however much you credit worth to that. He's a polished route runner and just gets it done. Hoping he continues to show out and earn the starting nod. I think he could be our best WR now and going forward.

I'm a fan of PFF and it's rankings. It's why I loved Gallup as a pick, and our new starting guard as well. Flemming from the pats, who we picked up, was a significant upgrade as a Tyron insurance policy as opposed to the garbage we had last year as well. I am with you on Gallup. He might be our best wideout now, but I think sadly he won't get the opportunity to lead us this year in catches/yards.

Todd Archer @toddarcher:
Cowboys right tackle La'el Collins has his left ankle taped pretty good and has been limping. Chaz Green is at right tackle. With Tyron Smith not practicing the current line from left to right is: Cameron Fleming, Connor Williams, Joe Looney, Kadeem Edwards and Green.

Ok can someone please explain to me, preferably Coach clap clap or GM idiot..... Why did we just cut Dan Bailey? He was hurt last year but I haven't heard a word about him being cooked for life from it? Unless he's never going to be the same again why the hell did this happen?

I saw a tweet where his accuracy has decreased two years in a row with an increasing number of injuries.

@toddarcher: With the release of Dan Bailey, the Cowboys have $19.3 million in cap space, according to ESPN Stats & Information. There appears to be no news regarding a potential trade for Earl Thomas and early talks with Cole Beasley on an extension have not progressed. The Cowboys could carry over most of that cap room into 2019 with DeMarcus Lawrence set to be a free agent and Ezekiel Elliott and Dak Prescott eligible to sign a long-term deals for the first time.

You have to make a decision about Dak this year. And the decision better not be to throw a lot of money at the QB we've seen the last year plus a game.. Either he greatly improves or they need to be back in the market for a QB. He was known as a guy that wasn't accurate and couldn't throw the deep ball in college.. I hope that can change because I like the guy. But I fear that it won't. And now there's the built in excuse of a mediocre to bad WR corp... Any time there's an excuse to be had, the Cowboys will latch on to it to justify their decision.. and I fear that'll be the case when Dak can become a FA.

Same poorly coached lousy performance in general so far. Defense is keeping them in it to some extent but our offense sucks donkeys

You know, I've let Jerry slide with a lot of player/personnel moves over the years, but keep Garrett has literally cost the team so, so much.
Still haven't had anyone explain reasonably to me why he should be coaching this team.

Not sure what the hurry is to give Dak another contract. He's under contract for one more year after this and has plenty to prove. He's said as much. That money is about D-Law more than anything.
As for the game, yuck. No creativity on offense. Dak played poorly. Sloppy mistakes and penalties. Defense actually looked solid outside of some early contain issues.
They need to let Dak use his mobility more. Free him up and stop making him into a pure pocket passer. Sure, he needs to develop there and be better. But some plays look like they are built for failure right out of the gate. We saw some instances of Dak extending plays but then failing to make the pass or decision to run.
Need to bounce back solidly against a NYG team we should be. Emphasis on should. Need to execute better.

@toddarcher: Among the players working out for the Cowboys today at The Star are wide receiver Brice Butler, who spent parts of three seasons in Dallas, and quarterback Landry Jones, who was among the final cuts of the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to sources. He was a fourth-round pick in 2013 and has eight touchdown passes and seven interceptions in 19 games (five starts).
So.... no interest in Josh Gordon?

yeah...I have all kinds of interest in Josh Gordon...but I guess not the Cowboys.. The guy would probably be out of the league in a month if he were to sign with the Cowboys...

Well I guess to be fair, we wouldn't utilize Gordon if he was here in all likelihood. This coaching staff raved about Austin all off season and in week one he was on the field for maybe 10 plays. Stephen Jones got his panties twisted over troy calling their play calling poor and yet clearly they listened to what everyone was saying after week 1 and opened the playbook up some last night... and then when we had a lead it felt like we did the typical thing and tried to just sit with the ho hum safe calls. Until late when we opened it up once more and got the td drive to put it away. I'm not a huge dak fan really but our offensive plays/scheme/personnel decisions is leaving a lot to be desired. For years our offense has been stupidly predictable. I am certain if Gordon was here he'd be wasted. Let him go to the Pats and put up 120 yds a game with Brady and win them yet another ring.

totally agree with you BW. I really thought our offensive play calling was creative and different both in play and design and effort - EARLY in the game. And as you said once we got that lead - poof - back to the same old stuff. I was so disappointed we slipped back into that.

Welp, season over. Mavs have more talent than this sorry squad. And what's worse, there are so few offensive options that Garrett will get to keep his job. Truly sad.

Dak hasn't been good, but he literally has no talent to pass to, and the garbage that he does pass to drop catches. That will make a QB look bad every time. I mean, your leader in yards caught is vs Seattle was superstar tight end Geoff Swaim...a 7th round pick from 2015.
