I think my final prediction is the Cavs. This Miami thing seems like a smokescreen and just doesn't add up in my mind.

That's a pretty sick Big 3 down there in Miami.
Lebron is a huge c*ck, though.

This is so bizarre.
This tv special goes down as one of the most despicable things an athlete has ever done to a geographical area.
And Lebron has just removed any possibility that he will ever go down as a Kobe/MJ level superstar.
This is so freaking weird.

There is a VERY real chance that this thing doesn't work...I know that's what just about any real NBA fan outside of Miami is rooting for.

Next year they can pick a nice player for the MLE under at least a handful that wanna come to play there.
Also several ring whores and vets for the minimum. They need just 5 other guys....

It depends on how the rest of the offseason plays out, but I think it's going to take Miami a year or two to get their depth in order. The way I see it this year is the year to go all in. We've got Dirk back. We've got a quality starting center locked up. And we're just about ready to unleash Booby on the world. This is the year.

They'll definitely get better as they more chances to use their cap exceptions.
But they have too many holes to fill this offseason.

This whole charade is a pain to watch and deep down inside I'm happy that I don't have to root for this self-centered, narcissistic guy on my team. When they would constantly ask him how "heavy" the whole process was, I couldn't even watch any longer. For fuck's sake, this guy just had to make the all too brutally difficult decision where he wants to earn $100+ million dollars the next couple of years. He staged the whole drama deliberately and turned it into a week-long show--and now we are supposed to weep out of pitty for this young man because of the emotional toll it takes on a young man to make The Decision?
Grow a pair, Lebron!

Chalmers can play 36min, no problem
They have Beasley to trade. They can play smallball with Bosh at center.
They need a solid (not even great) center and a few backups...

I don't know, this seems like wishful thinking. Where was all of the Lakers' depth last season? You have a top 3 that is this ridiculously good, and I don't think their depth is going to be an issue. Maybe the whole chemistry thing might take a little bit to get used to, but by the playoffs I think they'll be rolling. The only thing I see as the Heat's undoing is not being able to figure out their on-court pecking order.
I guess center might be a question mark. If someone has a dominant big man, they could possibly give them a run. Honestly, we'll probably have to root for the Lakers if we want to see this Heat team get taken down.
Yuck.

Chalmers ain't Rondo, Beasley has almost no trade value, and whatever center they get is probably going to be a couple levels short of solid.

With that being said, an injury to one of those three would absolutely destroy them.

The Lakers brought Lamar feaking Odom off the bench. They had ridiculous depth.
I would be shocked if they even made the Finals this year. Beasley has zero trade value and they have nothing but him to give anyone. They're going to get whatever they can for Beasley (or his 5mil) and fill out the rest of the roster with vet min guys.
They're a solid playoff team next season, nothing more.

This
Miami is clearly going to be a force but it's way too early for them to get it all settled, it's going to be a learning year.
The west is getting weaker and we are one of the few teams there that is primed to still improve without losing anything major.

Yeah, but that point about Odom is deceptive. The Lakers were no more than six deep if you look at that roster because they really didn't go any deeper than Odom. Then you have to account for the fact that one of those players played on one leg in the Finals, and their starting point guard put up a PER of 10.8 in the playoffs. Their depth was incredibly overrated by the end of the playoffs (and some of that was due to Bynum's leg giving out on him again), and it almost cost them a championship. If the Lakers could win a championship with that roster, the Heat are going to be a contender with this one. Let's not kid ourselves writing them off already.

You have three of the most talented guys in the league, all of them leaving serious change on the table, and all of them saying they understand the need to sacrifice some individual glory to win a championship. In Lebron's case he bypassed all the possible monetary and world brand building potential of New York to do so.
That's a horrible turn of events and bad example to the youth of the Country.

Agreed, this is the worst part...
(although the best part is that they're one injury away from being an epic bust/lottery team...)
