Default Dallas and Boston

Would you guys do this trade? More importantly would Dallas or Boston pull the trigger?

Dallas trades Jason Terry, Eric Dampier, and the #34 pick to Boston

Boston trades Rajon Rondo, salary cap fillers Brian Scalabrine and Wally Szczerbiak, and the #5 pick to Dallas

Here's my rationale:

Dallas gets younger with Rondo and the #5 pick.

Nowitzki
J-Ho
Diop
Harris
#5 pick?

That's a pretty good nucleus...the question is who do we get with the #5 pick? Your guess is as good as mine. I personally like Corey Brewer from Florida or Jeff Green from Georgetown. Although the center from China...Yi Jianlian...would be intriguing as well.

Boston who already fields a fairly young team (Gerald Green, Delonte West, Tony Allen, Al Jefferson, Kendrick Perkins, Ryan Gomes) gets a couple of veterans in Terry and Dampier who along with Pierce makes Boston a significantly better team in the East. Playoff bound? I would think so.

Jefferson
Green
Dampier
Pierce
Terry

That isn't a bad starting lineup. They still have the #32 pick and acquire another 2nd round pick in Dallas (#34). They get rid of some bad contracts in Szczerbiak and Scalabrine...although as we all know...Dampier and Terry are both long-term deals too...so it kind of evens out. Talent-wise...edge goes to Boston.

Your thoughts?

No way they get rid of Rondo. He's got a big future.

I actually doubt either would pull the trigger.

Kind of a lateral move, IMO, that really doesn't fix the problems for either team.
I could see it happening, but I am not sure either team would be a clear winner.

No way Boston gives up the #5 pick unless they're getting an all-star in return.
