I highly doubt Cuban tanked for a rebuilding piece. I think we all know in the back of our minds we arent adding a rookie to this roster with the #10 pick.

He obviously had to sell Luka and Kyrie on the tank strategy and none of us on this board are naive enough to think he sold them on a rookie.

I hope like hell we keep the pick but at ome point reality overcomes fantasy.

It has to depend on who falls right? If Hendricks, Walker, or Black fall, then you really see them dealing? Because you have to ask yourself is who I'm getting in a trade better than them?

We get so caught up in vet vs rookie, but I say just go with the who is more talented.

Remember we're dealing with Cuban here. If every industry insider thinks we are going to trade the 10th pick, then you can leave it to Cuban to do the exact opposite of that.

Exactly, go with talent and I'd lean if the rookie is close but arguably not quite as good now as the vet, then grab the rookie scale deal and the player with upside.

Then again, as others point out, there's an overall plan and feeling that I'm sure has been or continues to be discussed with Luka and/or Kyrie involved.

Seen some rumblings about Mavs trading with Rockets to move down to #20.

#10

for

#20 & Tari Eason

then take TJD at 20.

Your new Mavs:

Luka
Kyrie
Green
Eason
TJD

But when you look out our future outgoing picks, it makes more sense to use the pick and add the right rookie.

On tank day, I thought there's no way we keep the pick because you can't sell a tank and then bring on a rookie.

Woj speculated we trade but Stein said we might keep it. So nobody really knows until tomorrow.

Well there's a 50% chance we keep it. On the other hand there's about 50% chance we trade it. I'm no math magician but it appears like a toss up atm.

Honestly it would be stupid if we already decided unless there is a move we have lined up that is a total no-brainer.

You never know who will be available at 10 and you never know what will open up via other trades.

Lively says he loves Dallas and would look forward to setting pnr for Luka and Kyrie?

Mavs: ok but what about another undersized guard

Stein: ?Dallas has interest in Lively, but continues to weigh its options in trading back, looking for the right opportunity to upgrade the roster while also preferring to stay in the draft and potentially grab a player they like further down, like Cason Wallace.?

This has to be a smokescreen.

the Champion Nuggets swoop in and get Pacer's 1st round pick for OKC FRP in 24 that was recently acquired plus they moved up 8 spots in 2nd round with a pick swap this year.

Nuggets believe with the 3 picks between 29 and 37 they can fill roles as they are likely to lose players like Brown plus are high on Watson and already have C. Braun. Lot's experienced college players in that range.

Pacers still probably like to defer the other 1st round pick at least.

Default Mavs getting a center again??

Now, the talk is for D Lively? 6 pts and 6 rbs a game. Yikes. Mavs had Porzingis, Wood and McGee. Yes, none are superstars but one of those should have worked out as a center already. The bottom line is Mavs need a center that can shoot the three so it opens the land for Luka or Irving. Realistically, the Mavs don?t know how to use big men. Its too guard oriented. Seems pretty hopeless as long as Kidd is on board. He just isn?t a good coach. I don?t even think he is that smart. Not very hopeful as the Mavs are too proud to admit mistakes. Kidd is staying and a lot of fans are going to be disenchanted.

Saw a Kyle Kuzma rumor. Now that is a player I'd trade the 10th pick for. Expand it to get Gafford, and you're finally onto something.

Well maybe not the part on Kidd offensive X's and O's but I think the Mavs need to get away from stand on line 3 point shooters and watchng Luka and KI. Mavs need more athletic defenders and to play faster off of defensive rebounds as much as they can. In half court there should be more motion and ball movement. Slashers and Rim runners.

If Lively lives up to his potential then he is exactly what the Mavs need which is why you hear they want Capela not Collins. Of course the contract is a factor. A defender who Rim Runs in PnR's. I was against Lively at 10 but no more. Maybe I am buying into some smoke factor. Guys like Lively and Hendrix scare me with high Bust potential but the high Boom factor makes picking them OK, IMO.

Clippers gave Washington the 30th pick to get Brogdon. That should be a hint as to what value picks are these days.

The Celtics gave a late first rounder to acquire him. So the value remains the same?

Right and Brogdon is a really good player, so if he is worth 30, then you don't settle for anything short of a star for 10.

nbadraft.net has gone off the rails. Cam Whitmore at 10? Leonard Miller at 36?

I know there is some news about Whitmore's health, but he isn't falling to 10.

And I sure as hell can't see Miller falling to 36 unless he is getting the Hardy treatment.

I would hunt down and DESTROY Cuban if we got Whitmore at 10 and then traded him for some mediocre veteran

If Dallas let's LA pull this off over them I'm going to be passed because Turner is exactly what this team needs at the 5

The Los Angeles Lakers are targeting Buddy Hield and Myles Turner in a trade including the 17th pick.

But at least we know what the 10th pick is worth. And that's a lot more than people realize.

I'd likely do Turner/Hield for it. But Cuban is weird as hell with contracts these days, so who knows?

Yep

Cuban is going to show everyone he's the smartest guy in the room

20% of me wants to believe the mavs are going to come out of this offseason with 2 solid starting pieces.

The other 80% of me thinks Dwight Powell will take a home town discount and start again at center and THJ will remain the 3rd option on this team and Cuban will try to sale to us that the team did try to make a major trade.

The Grant Williams stuff has me a bit worried because it reeks of a DFS replacement. Like, my god, let's do something different instead of constantly trying to replicate past players.

I like Grant Williams enough as a player. Not thrilled to pay him 15-16 million a year or whatever he?s about to get from us. He?s a MLE player if ever there was one.

I'm a huge fan of Hendricks as mentioned several times on here.

I really have no problems with them keeping the pick if they can get him.

I live in Phoenix and I know a lot of people are down on DeAndre Ayton. But I think a change if scenery would light a fire in the dude.

If the mavs could somehow acquire Ayton without giving up this year's pick I'd call that a steal. I doubt Phoenix moves him without a Pick being involved but if by chance the mavs could come out of this offseason with Ayton and Hendricks to play with Green, Luka and kyrie I'd call that a tremendous upgrade in talent.

I think it?s entirely possible to pull off. Phoenix would probably like 2-3 useable players for Ayton. I just worry about his motor. He would likely be happier here though. Good relationship with Luka.

It's the type of move we almost have to make if available.
We simply need to fill too many holes and if we can acquire him for THJ and Maxi we have to do it.

3 big holes and only two good trade assets.

Latest Athletic mock has Whitmore still available at 10.

Lively gets picked at SIX!

Is that a consensus thing or a single author? Haven't seen a single mock with Lively going that high, but who knows?

Read somewhere that Whitmore has a low motor and has had some injury issues. Not sure I would get too excited about selecting him if that is the case.

Must have been a specific author, cause Sam V dropped his latest 30 min ago and had lively at 12

I guess I just look too far ahead but I'm thinking about how in the hell we're going to deal with Wemby in a few years. That's why I like Lively long term for us.

Athletic and Ringer are the two most reliable. Everything else has less than 25% accuracy historically.

This is going to be a rollercoaster.

Well Cuban said our biggest need is a rim protector. So the current realistic options are Lively, Hendricks if he falls, Turner, and Ayton. I would guess one of them will be a Maverick by the end of the night.
