Juan Dixon has been traded by the Toronto Raptors , but he still doesn't know where his final destination will be.
It will be a one-for-one deal with some cash likely involved

Haha. That's Classic.

Yeah, not real big on the Dixon/Brezec trade.
However, ESPN News is reporting that the 3 team trade between the Cavs-Sonics-Bulls is now an 11 player trade but the update they have right now only shows 9.
New Details Of Cleveland Three-Way
February 21, 2008 - 3:54 pm
Philadelphia Inquirer -
According to David Aldridge, the Cavaliers, Bulls and Sonics have agreed to a three-way trade.
The Cavaliers receive Ben Wallace, Joe Smith, Wally Szczerbiak and Delonte West.
The Bulls receive Larry Hughes and Drew Gooden.
The Sonics receive Ira Newblem, Donyell Marshal and Chicago's Adrian Griffin

Marc Stein reports the trade as follows:
Cavs get: Wallace, Wally, Smith, West, Bulls future 2nd round pick
Bulls get: Hughes, Gooden, Simmons, Brown
Sonics get: Newble, Marshall, Griffin

I'm not sure how that trade makes any of the involved teams better. I guess it makes the Cavs a bit better. I thought Gooden was pretty good, though.

Well,
The Spurs didn't get Miller or Artest.
Denver didn't get Miller or Artest.
PHX didn't get their extra defensive swingman.
I'd call that a success from the Mavs perspective.

It's cap space for Seattle, so I get their motives. The Cavs come out okay, so I get their motives too. But Larry Hughes has damn near as much $$$ on his deal as Wallace has on his, so other than just really, really, really being tired of Big Ben's act I don't see what they get out of it.

Wow the trades. Seattle looks like they are just trying to sell off. Grizz seems to be doing this some as well. I like this for the Cavs. Wally is a good shooter and has some height and will try hard. He will really benefit from a guy like James. They need bench guys like him or if he starts. I thing Z is pretty good but on offense. I thought Cleveland lacked bad on defense in the paint. Duncan killed them. Now they have a good defensive center and a good offensive center. It is just sad not many can play both ways anymore in the nba at center. I know Ben Wallace is over paid but they needed to move Hughes so bad and also they needed help on defense in the paint.
The funny thing is, all the playoff teams are looking for help. They are wanting centers. So teams go out looking and it is no centers left playing basketball or many that are to good and they are still trading and shuffling Mutombo, Mourning, Magloire, Shaq, Ben Wallace, Kurt Thomas around. The Nets wanted Diop.
This might help the Bulls on scorring. The Cavs are back in the mix.

Agreed. Big success as far as we're concerned.
I was glad to hear that the Spurs got KT, simply because it meant that they weren't getting Artest.

I'd rather have KT instead of Artest. Everyone in the west, save one, made moves to get bigger. Thomas is probably starting by year's end.

Yeah I think Lebron has a better team around him now than this morning
Illgouskas / Verajao
Wallace / Smith
Lebron / Pavlovic
Sczerbiak / Gibson
Duhon / West / Jones
Their backcourt got a lot more athletic and they now have a decent inside outside game for Lebron to utilize.

You'd rather have KT than Artest? If Artest can keep his head on straight with the SA guys around him they would be the favorites to win it all, in my opinion. KT in San Antonio doesn't worry me at all, although it does make them a little deeper.

Then you're crazy. Artest would have made SA the prohibitive favorite. As it is, they've improved their size by lost their best perimeter threat (IMO).
I'm less scared of the Spurs now than I was 2 days ago. With Artest, I would have been 50x more scared.

They say Wally still shoots a good % and West is athletic and good. Hughes has been a thorn in their side. Boston and Detroit was best i thought but now i think they will also have to deal with the Cavs. One funny thing to observe, is Shaq and Ben Wallace shooting ft's as they have to get ready because the ball could hit and bounce off anywhere. Maybe not even hit the rim.

That's one pretty big "IF", if you ask me. And I'm not talking about him starting another riot, although you can't completely discount that possibility either. Sure he puts up numbers, but he's out there doing his own thing. The Spurs are pretty structured both on offense and defense. That all falls apart if you put a 5 man lineup on the floor where only 4 of them are interested in running the plays. Great talent. I don't dispute that. But sometimes there are more important things than talent.
Plus, I've seen Fabricio Oberto try to guard Shaq and Yao and I didn't like it too much.

You're thinking like a fantasy basketball GM instead of a real basketball GM. Thomas will fit perfectly next to Duncan. He can guard both PF and C which frees up Duncan to freelance on defense. He's good on the boards, and rebounding has been a problem for the Sprus. And if you leave him defensively he can hit that 15 footer to make you pay. Plus, he replaces a guy in Elson who wasn't being used anymore. Bring in Artest and you have to sit someone who currently is producing.

Artest can essentially guard every position (except big C's). He's also a much better player than KT on the offensive end.
Sorry, but I'm not buying it. I understand what you're saying, but the difference between the two in terms of talent is too big for any reasonable argument that this is actually a better move for SA.

I agree. If SA would have gotten Artest for Barry, Elson and a future pick I would've been devastated. The West would've just been too damn tough to believe.
But they didn't so I'm a happy camper.

You're right. Ron Artest can guard every position except big C's. Pretty much every contender in the western conference has one of those though.
In any event, nothing wrong with "agree to disagree".

The Cavs just got a good bit older and a little worse, IMO. Seems to me that their management just wanted to make a trade to fit in with everyone else.

KT fills a need, there's no doubt.

Think of all the "retired" Mavs that would have to be involved in a trade for a 60 million dollar contract.

Maybe I overrate what the Cavs did but they came out great IMO. They get 3 potential starters in Delonte West, Wally and Ben Wallace and not to mention Joe Smith who's solid as well. They trade Hughes and Marshall basically? Good deal for the Cavs. Got the interior defense upgraded as well as got more outside shooting to go with Boobie Gibson and Pavlovic.
