If I were Donnie -- Plan A
Wow, Alby suggested he would have his plan A up a little later, and I got to thinking -- what would my plan A be for this offseason.
Well, here would be my Plan A.
(Offer Kidd 3 years 18M with club option on year 3 --- if he still wants to check out the market) then.
Call Charlotte and try to get a GWallace/SNT Felton for JHo/SNT Bass deal done. Sweeten as needed.
Call the LAC and see if Kaman for Stack is feasible, even if you need to include Baron and Damp. Sweeten as needed, but try to get Deandre Jordan included.
If Baron is included, then let Kidd go, or SNT him for a SG, if not then resign him.
Sign Hollins, Singleton, and Green.
MLE and/or LLE for Ariza and/or Channing Frye.
Baron (Kidd), Felton, JJB
Wright, Terry,
GWallace, Singleton, Green
Dirk, Frye
Kaman, Hollins, Jordan
Better offensive variance, better defense, not over the hill.
What would your plan A be?

That is my exact Plan A.. except I would hope for B Davis. I love Kidd, but Davis is what we need.

Here's my Plan A. It takes three trades:
1) Jason Terry and Jerry Stackhouse ($3 million if necessary) for John Salmons and Kirk Hinrich. This is the key deal. Dallas can now afford to sign and trade Jason Kidd and fills that irksome hole at the shooting guard. Chicago saves a bunch of cap money and now has a combo guard for insurance if it chooses not to resign Gordon or he goes somewhere else.
2) Sign and trade Jason Kidd to Portland for Sergio Rodriguez, sign and trade Channing Frye and either Martell Webster or Travis Outlaw. Include the No. 22 pick if necessary. Portland gets the experienced point guard it needs to compete at the highest level, and gives up its No. 3 point guard, No. 3 small forward, and Frye, who is a free agent and who had almost fallen out of the rotation. Dallas gets the depth it needs.
3) Erick Dampier, Matt Carroll and sign and trade Brandon Bass for Shaquille O'Neal. Phoenix gets a power forward to play as Amare moves back to center to play its fast pace. Dampier is available to play against big centers when necessary. Carroll has a declining contract (lower each year), so Phoenix improves its salary cap situation.
Dallas:
Shaq/Hollins
Dirk/Frye/Singleton
Howard/Outlaw or Webster
Salmons/Wright
Hinrich/Rodriguez/Barea

Milwaukee only does that trade if we add M.C. Splash.

I thought Milwaukee wants to get rid of Michael Redd? We improve our bench by moving Jason Kidd to man the point guard spot as a reserve while thus having more bench scoring in Redd to go along with Jet. Our starting lineup will have two guys who can score in the low post with either Kaman or Villanueva while Dirk can spot out at the three point line and nail his threes or the same with Baron Davis or Redd. They can then change the system more towards the Orlando Magic system in which they feed the ball to Superman with four three point shooters around. Donnie and Cuban need to make this happen.

Yeah, relegating Dirk to become Radmonavich is a great idea too.

Yes, then the pressure would be off of Dirk to have to carry this team every night, Dirk can be similar to what Rashard Lewis is to the Orlando Magic. Dirk will only have to take over in some nights, instead of most nights.

How about two fairly simple trades?
SNT Kidd to Portland for Webster, Sergio Rod, and SNT Frye.
Damp and Stack (maybe a sweetener) to LAC for Baron, Kaman, Deandre Jordan
resign Hollins, Singleton
Personally I'd still try and do a JHo for GWallace as well, but if mgmt considers him core.
let Bass and Green go.
Baron, Sergio, JJB
Webster, Terry, Wright
JHo, Singleton
Dirk, Frye
Kaman, Hollins, Jordan
Carroll, (Williams, George riding pine or one gone).

I don't think that there is anyway in Hell that LA would trade Baron Davis AND Chris Kaman for Eric Dampier and Stack.

If they are wanting to clear up money they would. These are their biggest and longest contracts. Damps will be a last year type thing, and Stack's could be bought out. Clears up space and people, IF, they are really going to sign Griffin, and not trade his rights to the Thunder.
AND LAC is always wanting to clear up money issues. I am not sure that they wouldn't get a better offer, but I am fairly certain that this isn't as far off as you make it sound like.

I think if there is much chance they turn it down. The only way we might not get it is if GS comes in offering more to get B-Diddy back.

I do give those on this thread props for recognizing that Kidds real value would be coming off the bench.

.416-FG% .406-3PT% .819-FT% 6.20-RPG 8.7-AST 1.98-STLS 9.0-PPG
These look like numbers from a bench player. He is so washed up every championship contender is interested in his services to put them over the top. Yeah, lets sit him down.
