Blazers can offer any amount of talent to get Bosh. Especially now that they didn't take on Turkoglu's contract which was mind boggling to me to begin with because they have a lot of great players still on their rookie contract and they're under the cap. If they wanted they could become major players in 2010 free agent class or take on a guy like Bosh's contract with no problem. Mavs just don't have anything to trade for Bosh. Unless I overrate Bosh's talent because I see him as a 1st tier player in this league who's still getting better. No one is coming to Toronto through free agency other than Turkoglu lol. So clearing up cap space would be useless unless they want to get on the luxury tax.
|
No, what I'm telling you is a lot of teams would have a lot more to offer than Dallas, but the real question is would Bosh want to play for those teams? Bosh has all of the leverage in this scenario because at any time he could just walk from Tononto and join Miami, leaving the Raps empty handed, which obiously they would not want to happen.
A team like Miami or maybe Portland could make a run at him with their cap space but he'll never make as much money there as he would with a sign and trade. A team like the Warriors could offer all kinds of talent but how much would that gut their team just to bring Bosh back to a similar situation he was in with Toronto? We'd basically be keeping our team completely in tact via the DUST chip, which would give Bosh the best chance at a championship out there.

You are making the mistake of confusing a sign-and-trade with a trade. With a trade, the team gets to choose where the player gets to go. With a sign-and-trade, the player gets to choose where the player gets to go. There's a big difference here.

Obviously there will be other options that may make more sense from a traditional lineup perspective (D-Wade, Joe Johnson), but I believe we actually have a truly legitimate chance at landing Bosh and when you can add that kind of talent for pretty much nothing then you do it.
|
The simplest answer to why he isnt a center is because hes a 4... However since i know thats not what your looking for, he weighs 210 lbs and cant play in the post on either end.

He's listed at 6'10" 230 lbs. That's the same size as Rasheed Wallace and within 20-25 lbs of most NBA centers. He can score in the post and draw a lot of fouls on offense. Lumbering centers can't keep up with him. He's also a decent defender in the post and from what I read does great on pick and rolls due to his great quickness.

Some of you are right, he can't put a full sentence together (well kinda can but a little too much gibberish), somewhat hard to understand. But can make out what he is saying lol.

Highlights:
He's very excited to reunite with Kidd. With offense, it's good to have plays but you just need to let loose and play basketball and take advantage of what it out there. If things break down, then you go to plays.
The offense is exciting, but he's more interested to see how the defense plays out.
Had a quick conversation with Dirk yesterday. Dirk said he's glad he doesn't have to be guarded by Marion anymore. They didn't get into major specifics but they'll talk more hoops when Dirk gets back into the states.
He views Dallas as right up there in the mix with the West Elite.
He doesn't think any big deals are coming any time soon, maybe just some minor tweaks.
Jet said if Marion wants #31...it's his.

you do realize listed heights and weights for athletes have roughly nothing to do with reality right? As for scoring in the post, scoring at the rim off the dribble and scoring in the post are two different things and hes god awful defensively.

If it's a universal concept then it has no bearing on Bosh alone and we end up right back in the same spot we left off with Bosh being withing 20-25 lbs of most Centers. Bill Russell was listed at 6'10" 220 lbs, by the way.
Regarding his defense, the Raptors depend on him to be on the court at all times. He really can't be very aggressive on defense if the Raptors want a chance to win. If he's surrounded with a talented group of players such as what we have in Dallas I believe he could apply more energy and effort on the defensive end. He certainly has his strengths and weaknesses on the defensive end but I'm not sure I'd say he's god awful. My guess is he's give opposing Centers more problems than they'd give him.

but if hes listed heavier than he is and the others are listed lighter it doesnt make it the same. Simply look at his body and look at other guys. Hes incredibly thin. Or better yet watch him play, he gets murdered every time he has to guard a legit post scorer. This isnt meant to be a knock on bosh, i love the guy and hes the only nba player i actually know but hes not a fit here.

Fair enough. Don't get me wrong, I would rather have a Lebron / Wade/ Johnson and they would certainly fit better with this team but imo it looks like Bosh may be our best bet at landing a 2010 talent and if he comes at that low of a price I'd be determined to give it a shot. If it works you compete for a championship and if it doesn't there are tons of teams who would love having him. It's really a win win scenario.

I'm going to ask that people stop pretending to know that Marion is losing or HAS LOST a step bc of turning 31. Some guys drop off a cliff...some guys stay strong. Lets wait to judge Marion on his play.

I forgot to mention he also said he feels very capable of doing what he did at age 25 while being 31. He just has to be aware of what's going on with his body and train properly.
