Magic signed Barnes and now they are zeroing in on C.J.Watson. I know, who cares, but the interesting thing is that Watson turned down a one year 2.3K offer from the Sixers. The Magic is spending money like drunken sailors.

Seriously though, why would Buss through a hissy fit about that amount and then all of a sudden cave and add another $13m to the original contract offer? Methinks shenanigans.

Ha, yeah I was wondering back that tool.. 4 years 40 mill? That 4th year must not be guaranteed the least bit. Im thinking Lamar either takes a 3 year deal with the Lakers, he goes to Portland, or he gets traded to us via S&T. I dont think he would go to Miami for the MLE.

Odom is going where the money leads him. Buss is a mediocre poker player, but Odom is just a kid trying to bluff his parent. If the Lakers will pay, Odom will be a Laker. If he gets better money elsewhere, he'll be packing his bags. End of Story.
I dont think any legitimate sports writer actually believes he will signs for the MLE if given an option of more money.

Lamar Odom will re-sign with the Los Angeles Lakers, coming to terms on a $40 million contract over four years, according to sources close to the forward.
The deal will likely be consummated when owner Dr. Jerry Buss returns from vacation in Hawaii.

Now maybe we can move on with our own offseason.
Sorry this was posted before, but I guess it's on a little more legit site. (I guess?)

Well, half the issue was that of the 4th year not being guaranteed (as LO was demanding). They basically offered 3 years/$10m or 4 years/$9m with the 4th year not guaranteed. That's when he started talking to the Heat for a deal that could've potentially been 5 years @ MLE, which would be what.. $35m? So it would've been more money (with less tax) over a longer period, which the period of time seems to have been just as much of an issue for both sides (Buss/LO) as money was.

The Spurs have signed Theo Ratliff.
They now have a full roster while still needing another defensive type wing and 3rd option point guard.
I smell a trade coming up for them.

Ratliff is a nice pickup for them and fits their mold of ancient guys that know how to play. I like what the Spurs are doing a lot. I just hate that it isnt us.

Ratliff will definitely play limited minutes against certain teams and log some DNP's as well. It's a nice signing for them.
Former Spurs center, Oberto, will sign with the Wizards after agreeing to terms.
According to reports the Knicks are about to offer Sessions a 5 year deal.

Lee expects to be dealt
Quote:
With the Knicks reserving cap space for the summer of 2010, David Lee is stuck in limbo.
"Going forward I thought I could still be a big piece of the puzzle -- and it's not as though I'm looking at a max contract, or talking about either me OR LeBron. I thought it was something where we could get something done and they'd still have more than enough left over for what they wanted in the future, but apparently there's some disagreement on that -- just on how the Knicks want to move forward. And I think at this point they're not completely sure what they're going to do and how they want to proceed," Lee said.
Given the torrent of trade rumors he's hearing, Lee expects something to happen over the next two months that will keep him from having to accept the Knicks' qualifying offer of slightly less than $3 million, which would allow him to become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2010.
"I know there's a lot of teams that are interested, and a lot of the teams in sign-and-trades interested in me weren't teams that had cap space going into this summer. But there's still Portland with cap space, and there's still teams very interested in sign-and-trades, and there's still New York figuring out what they want to do."
Lee was asked if he is taking the situation personally.
"I'm not going to go with angry or disrespected, that's not the way we feel," Lee said. "I understand the Knicks have a lot of different factors they're considering. At this point they're looking toward the future and trying to figure out exactly what they want to do, and possibly even confused about what they want to do. I don't know that they're 100 percent sure right now, just from what Donnie is saying, that they 100 percent know what direction they want to go in. You've seen that with the different guys [Jason Kidd and Grant Hill] they've been trying to get, and they haven't gotten them.
"It's no fun right now because it's the next five to six years of my life, but it should be fun to see what does come out of this."

I don't really see anything wrong with their roster now. They're deep as hell at every position but point but do they still want Ginobilli and Mason getting time at the point?

With the Spurs moves this summer (including their picks in the draft), and if Andre Miller goes to Portland... we have to make another impactful move to be in the top 4 in the west really. With our assets still remaining, I believe we still have the capability to be in the top 2 though.

It's a very balanced roster mixed with youth and athletcism to go along with established veterans. I think the average age last year was 35 and now it's 28.
I thought Haislip was going to play the 4/5 but the FO believe he can play some 3.
Williams (non guaranteed contract) played a lot of point with the Toros and they might be penciling him in as the 3rd string pg. Also, Hairston is on a make good contract. I'm not sure what else they expect from him but it's not a lock he makes the roster at this point.
To answer your question though ... Ginobli handles the ball alot so he can fill in at point if necessary but no way they use Mason again. It was a disaster of an experience.

Blazers make offer to Andre Miller. 3 years, 21 million. Pretty good get by the Blazers if the deal is finalized.

Wow, the Blazers are going to be a damn rough team next season if they sign Miller..
I'm really surprised that we haven't heard much out of OKC. They're a couple of veteran players away from being a solid team as well, as least that's how they play.

Im thinking OKC likes all their youngsters and is going to let them grow together. In a couple years they are going to be good... Id say the same for Memphis as well, but they find a way to screw themselves over usually.
We said the same thing about Portland a few years ago.. and now, I think they will defnitely be a tuff out this year. Hopefully, we will still have their number though as we did last year.

It's official... Miller a Blazer.
Quote:
Andre Miller has agreed to terms with the Portland Trail Blazers, agent Andy Miller has confirmed to the Daily News. The deal is believed to be for two or three years with a starting salary higher than the mid-level exception of $5.8 million. Portland had $9 million in salary cap space meaning the Blazers did not have to do a sign-and-trade with the Sixers. Philadelphia Daily News

Not bad for the Blazers, but remember when they were supposed to have one or two max type players coming in with all of their cap room before D Miles started screwing with them?
Despite what their FO has done in rebuilding that franchise, Blazers fans have to be upset with the outcome of this off season.

Why? Unlike some FOs, they just keep trying one thing after another. That is what any good GM would do. Hedo chose another city because his wife wanted to. Jazz had the right to match Milsap, still another try. They couldn't offer as much money to Kidd. So they go for Miller who is still a borderline all-star pg. A pg was the main thing they needed, and they got a damn good one. Don't see how the fans would be that disappointed. They got a lot without giving up anything except for salary.

It's a sweet signing by the Blazers. Damn.
They've been shopping Bayless and there were rumors that they had 2 trades in the works in recent days. 1 trade could happen rather quickly. Have no details but with this signing I wonder if we see something soon.

Very good signing by the Blazers. Millers not a perfect fit, but a pretty good vet PG who´s never hurt.
Just imagine if they had taken Durant. They´d easily be among top contenders next year. They might even be without Durant.

Blazers made good move with this money, but this may cause some problems for them in playoffs. In West your going to meet some teams in PO, who has killer PG (Spurs - Parker, Hornets - Paul, Utah - Williams or Nuggets - Billups). Portland now has below average defenders in PG position (maybe Blake can take his defence to next level, but its only hope) and not some elite defender in SG position with Roy. Actually I really dont like Roy's defence at all. So I can't see how they can beat Spurs and Nuggets with this roster. But they have years to develope and their young guns need to have more playoffs experience before they can beat some West elite team in 7 game series.
