Some very strange things looking at the standings.

Lakers went on a ridiculous win-streak and are still only 2 games ahead of Denver and Dallas.

Lakers have played 77% of their games at home, and owe the road 12 games

Phoenix is a mediocre 8-8 on the road, but the only perfect team at home (8-0). They've also played twice as many games away as at home.

1/4 of the way in and San Antonio is still on the outside looking in, even if they are only a half game behind the dropping Blazers. Interestingly enough the Spurs have played only 20 games-- the fewest games of any team in the league right now.

Portland has played the most games so far at 25. Dallas, Denver and Phoenix are all tied for second at 23games played.

Updated playoff predictions
1) Lakers
2) Mavs
3) Denver
4) San Antonio
5) Phoenix
6) Utah
7) Houston
8) New Orleans

Mr. 39% Ariza with the fail of the day.

Ariza ejected after throwing a punch towards DeRozan. Ariza is 0-9 from the field so not surprisingly he missed

Anyone else see this yet?

Carlisle flew early to miami for Ping Pong session. Apparently he's really good and an avid player.

Yup. There were a lot of terrible calls against the Bucks down the stretch. Another clutch shot by Kobe. But still, the refs were awful.

i'm must be nice to have the refs on your jock and in your pocket. oh and to be gifted Gasol. that was such a gutless call from the refs. it exemplifies what's worst about the NBA. you can't breathe on Kobe or D-Wade w/out a whistle being blown. Paul Pierce and LeBron throw themselves into defenders like Lorenzo Neal lead blocking and are rewarded for it. i'm gonna post this in things i hate thread too

Yeah thats the thing guys like Wade Lebron Kobe dont even NEED the preferential treatment. Just treat every team and every player as equals and may the best team win. This isn't profesional wrestling. Damn you David Stern.

Jeryd bayless being fully showcased to the league for trade tonight;

in other news: Steve nash has to be one of the clutchest 3pt shooter under one minute to go in the league. which begs the question why doesn't he assert himself until then?

Why would they want to trade Bayliss? Miller is the guy they want to move.

I probably does include the playoffs. The last time they own on TNT was March of 2008. that's the year the Spurs beat them 4-1. That one win could have been on ESPN.

That seems really unlikely. But hey, I doubt Ernie would give false info, so what do I know!

Its shocking but true.

I was completely unaware any such "curse" existed.

Their next two TNT games are against Memphis and Dallas.

Since years its always the same in crunchtime. Teams with a Kobe or Wade not even try to make a nice play. Give him the ball, he dribbles the clock down and run into the paint for the basket or the whistle

Boner breaks hand.

Yes I said Boner. How could Boner break hand you ask?

Quote:
Spurs forward Matt Bonner broke the fourth metacarpal on his right hand in the first quarter against the Pacers on Saturday night.

X-rays taken at the arena showed a partial fracture. It doesn't appear that he'll need surgery, but Bonner is expected to miss roughly a month of action.

"It's not broken all the way through, so it should heal itself in about four weeks," he said. "That's about it."

Bonner is averaging 8.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.

Looks like Fed-ex can be pretty dangerous. Nuggets are the newest playoff team to fall to the Grizz there.

Pop is a damn funny guy

Quote:
PHOENIX -- Tuesday morning, as the Suns were preparing to face the Spurs later that night, Steve Nash posted a message to his Twitter feed that said in part, "Anyone know coach Popovich was an American spy in Russia before he began coaching? No wonder his teams are hard to beat!"

During the tenured coach's pregame session with the media, he was made aware of this tweet from Nash. And in classic Popovich style, he sarcastically answered the question, but not before making his feelings about Twitter crystal clear.

"Does Steve tweet? I've lost all respect," Popovich joked. "Steve Nash should not be a tweeter. He's a competitor, not a tweeter."

As for Nash's assertion that the coach's time in the military helped him become a basketball mastermind, Popovich wholeheartedly agreed.

"He's absolutely correct," Popovich deadpanned. "I spent all my military time in Russian basketball courts in different cities collecting as many out of bounds plays as I possibly could. And now, I've had a chance to employ them."

Popovich then continued his anti-Twitter remarks, effectively saying that in his eyes, loose lips sink ships.

"If you're a tweeter, you talk too much. You want to keep things closer to the vest, so you can't tweet."

When it was pointed out that the Spurs have some tweeters in their locker room, Popovich's response was pretty much what you'd expect.

"I know," Popovich said. "I hate 'em all."

Sheed talks techs
By Jessica Camerato

BOSTON - On Sunday following the Celtics-Timberwolves game, Rasheed Wallace spoke out about his ejection on Friday against the 76ers. Wallace said he will not alter his game to try to prevent being called for technical fouls. In fact, he was not happy with how close referee Bill Kennedy stood near the Celtics bench during timeouts.

Wallace was ejected by Kennedy during a timeout in the second quarter.

“If they’re standing right near our huddle trying to stick their ear or nose in there, then yeah, they’re going to hear some stuff,” he said. “That’s exactly what it was. When have you ever seen somebody - a ref - standing over there that close to our bench during a timeout. You already know what it is. I ain’t tripping.”

Wallace later added, “I’ll still play my game. I’ll still be me. I ain’t changing my game for nobody. I ain’t changing nothing for nobody.”

http://greenstreet.weei.com/sports/b...d-talks-techs/

+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+

me: I will say this though...referee Bill Kennedy is probably the worst ref in the league.

Rumors circulating that Portland may trade for Bass.
Makes sense due to lack of Bigs depth. I have no links so take my word for it

Read on a Rockettes board that TMac will turn down his all-star berth. Pretty classy move imo.

Pretty smart. After the first results he posted on his homepage that he is proud about his fans blabla. Guess now he realize he got the votes as a joke and to **** with Stern and his vote system.

That same Thunder team came within a couple of points of beating the Lakers in LA the night before. Except for their name, their colors, and the fact that they play in Oklahoma, they are on the verge of being a pretty good team.
