Why on Earth would Dirk having efficient games on few shots make you uncomfortable. He's not going to put up 41 every game to save the team and still be fresh in the playoffs. I say the fewer the shots the better as long as we can win it and even then Dirk can't be taking every shot in every close game.

I could have sworn we went 1-1 in those two games, barely winning today. Maybe you're into mediocre basketball though.

My biggest problem is that he didn't put up many shots, but still played 40 minutes. Sure, you want him fresh, but playing 40 minutes isn't doing that. And if he's going to play 40 minutes, you might as well have him take as many quality looks as you can get him, because they will go down. But no, instead he's getting a ton of minutes while the offense goes through other players. That's not good usage of a 31 year old whose logged thousands of minutes in his career.

Maybe you are right or maybe you are being incredibly patronizing and trying to turn my argument.
a single loss in the regular season means what? If the team can't step up, Dirk taking 35 shots won't help us. The team needs to be better and less reliant on the big guy. Is the team mediocre without him? Right now yes although they did step it up against Cleveland.
Maybe you'd prefer a team that is subpar with Dirk carrying the entire load the entire season only to be tired in the offseason?

We can't afford to not have him on the floor because of how he makes the team better. If he doesnt play this team truly is mediocre. If he has to post up and drive 5-10 more times that doesnt seem like a lot more wear but over 82 games it is. I'd love him to get fewer minutes but the team just collapses without him. Reducing his offensive load is the next best thing and if he can get 20 points on a handful of posessions then I am thrilled with that.

I understand your point, but Carlisle should still make the effort to stop playing Dirk 40 mpg. Even if he can narrow it down to 38 per, that's over a hundred minutes over the season.

We've all seen how badly Carlisle is criticized on the board when Dirk isnt out there. The opposing team goes on a 12-2 run and everyone is screaming how horrible Carlisle is for not putting out good lineups. People like Cad obviously care so much about winning right now that they would probably have brain hemmorhaging if we lost games because dirk wasnt playing 48mpg and taking 35 shots.

40 min is too much for a 31 year old big man.
Anyway, this team can`t win it all. Simply not good enough. I hope Dirk finally realizes this after the playoffs and will opt out to win his well deserved ship. If not, his fault.

Seriously... If your only shtick is to bitch about the same players over and over again and complain that we aren't good enough then we really don't need you around here.

They couldn't get dirk off the floor tonight, they needed all of the rebounding they could get and they still got outrebounded by 10. Pick another game to gripe about dirks minutes.

Notes: This was Dampier's seventh double-double, more than he had all last season. ... Memphis fell to 1-14 at American Airlines Center, having won here only in November 2005.

Yeah, I just had to attend the only victory Memphis ever had in Dallas back in 2005.
