I think it's 27 in a quarter, and I think Dirk didn't score 29 in a quarter.

Aguirre scored 24 in a quarter once, and Dirk scored 29 in the 4th quarter of the 3rd game of this season.
Edit: 24 points in a regular season quarter.

Not only did he do it, he did it this season.

You're correct that its not 22, but it's not 27, its 24 (as said above). And Dirk did score 29.
Here's the video, for your viewing pleasure.

I have a recording on my DVR set to "Save until I delete" that says otherwise.

It was actually the 4th game of the season (first 3: WASH, @LAL, @LAC), but that's just being ticky tacky.

Totally understandable. The number 3 or 4 doesn't really matter, anyway. The number that matters is 29.

I know, that's why I love going back and watching Dirk go crazy and stuff. Its just awesome. This one is really good, as is this one, and for a slightly shorter one, this one.
Those three are my all time favorites. There's plenty of other good ones, which I can supply links to if anyone wishes. The Game 7 Rebellion one is pretty epic too, right up there with those three to be honest.

In Chumdawg's defense, ESPN didn't really make a huge deal out of it like they should have.
No mention of it being the 2nd highest 4th quarter scoring feat behind Wilt Chamberlain's 31 in a 4th quarter.
I was mad @ ESPN, all they mentioned was that it was a Dallas franchise record. When Carmelo scored 33 in a 3rd quarter against the sh!tbag timberwolves, they talked about it for all last season during Nuggets game much later in the season and the whole nine.
But Dirk comes within 2 points of the NBA's greatest 4th quarter in history, to lead his team back from a 16 point deficit to start the 4th, against a 50-win Utah team, and they talked about it for 1 24 hour news cycle.
Shame.

You're embarrassing yourself with that last part, Chum, but I will defend the first part. Mark Aguirre DID score 27 in a quarter for the Mavericks one time, but it was in the playoffs. 1988 First Round, Game 4. In a perfect world, that should add to it's fame instead of detract from it. But for some reason, playoff stats tend to get separated and often forgotten.

Dirk could have gotten 31. In one of the last possessions Kidd was about to inbound the ball after Utah scored. He passed the ball to Terry and Terry got fouled immediately (30 seconds to go, the foul itself not visible in that video; same happened with Dirk like 15 seconds earlier and he scored points 28 and 29 from the line), because Utah had no other choice than sending Dallas to the FT-line. If Kidd had passed the ball to Dirk instead, I'm sure that he would have tied Wilt's record. There is another video on youtube showing the entire 4th quarter (the vid has two parts) and you can see it.

I remember vividly when this happened. I was in LA over Halloween (a trip where I got to see the Mavs stomp the Lakers at Staples center, yay), and when I was getting ready to go to the airport the last day, the highlights came on the television. Couldn't believe it.

The new mojo gives me a eerie ghost town vibe. I don't think I like it.
