Are We the Recipe for One Hit Wonder Teams?
Why is it we are the team that creates these one hit wonder teams out there who really do nothing else after they become the nation's darling after beating us? 2007 was Golden State. That team is not even together anymore and fell right back to where they belong the next year and will always be. 2008 we made New Orleans look like one of the best teams ever. Next 2 years after that? Slaughtered by Denver and no playoffs this year. Then it was Denver last year and this year, could not even beat a banged up Utah team.
It seems after those teams beat us, talks of something special will be of these teams the next round and years to come. All 3 of them lost the next round and did not win a playoff series the following year or did not even make the playoffs.
And has Miami even won a playoff series since they beat us in 2006?
*sighs*

It seems teams really get up to play te Mavs. Why?? I think it's because of the reputation they infamously earned for themselves as soft!! Teams know that Dirk and company can be intimidated. Teams that have interior offenses and defenses match up EXTREMELY well againt them. If Dallas could play PHX in the first or any round they'd whoop that ass since they have the same issues Dallas has. Run and gun teams just don't win in the NBA and history has proven that. Even if Dallas get a too rated center or forward they will still have the same problems because they WONT run the offense through the low post, it goes though Dirk. That's how they get exposed. Dirk is not gonna change to a post player.
So how or can it be fixed? That's the question

It sucks but this is sweet
One hit wonder? Dont u have to win a championship first? How about hitless?. Quit making excuses and realize that the spurs are the better team and they always will be. As arrogant and as dirty as you are you would have thought u would have won a championship before? Now kick back and relax and let it soak in that you lost to the spurs again.

Well seeing you are already banned, I should not even respond. But I will anyways. I guess you REALLY missed my point. Your reply had nothing to do with what I was talking about.
Any time a team beat us in the last 3 years, we made them look like world beaters. They became a darling in the national media and the next round, they were ousted. And since beating us, did nothing at all in the next years.
Especially the Warriors and Hornets.

Perhaps because the Hornets had serious injury issues with Chris Paul this past year. Last year the Nuggets were fully healthy and this year they really aren't; their head coach is out with cancer.
Wade had that shoulder injury that set him back a couple of years ago. The Heat has young players or really old ones that can't do anything. They've also been preparing for this big FA summer.
Golden State nearly made the playoffs in 2008-except Baron Davis showed up hungover and got benched for the last game. They lost and missed the playoffs. Then Davis chased the money to LA, Barnes joined the Suns, Richardson got traded to Charlotte, and Jackson got traded to Charlotte.
Injuries and changes in team personnel are why those teams faltered. Doesn't have anything to do with the Mavs.

You could say the same for the Spurs actually:
2004 - Lakers go on to lose to the Pistons in the Finals
2006 - Mavs go on to lose to the Heat in the Finals
2008 - Lakers go on to lose to the Celtics in the Finals
2009 - Mavs lose in the next round

Wow, leave it to some dumbass Spurs fan to call getting to the Finals "doing nothing". Besides, the Lakers have won a title since 2004.
The five teams that have eliminated the Mavs in the last five years have combined for exactly zero playoff series won afterward and a 2-18 playoff road record.

Bad. Means we lose to teams that are some of the worst in the playoff scene.

Our three most recent first round exits all put us at the bottom of the longest Western conference food chain, where the winner of each series loses in the next round:
2004 - Mavs lose to Kings, who lose to Wolves, who lose to Lakers (who lose to Pistons)
2007 - Mavs lose to Warriors, who lose to Jazz, who lose to Spurs
2008 - Mavs lose to Hornets, who lose to Spurs, who lose to Lakers (who lose to Celtics)
This could very well keep up. Mavs lost to the Spurs, who will lose to the Suns, who will probably lose to the Lakers, so there you go.

It's more of a curse (for the opposing teams)
After the 06' Finals, every team defeating the Mavs in a playoff series not only lose the next round, but face a terrible fate the next season, and even worse the season after.
2006 Heat go from champs to first-round loss to 15 wins
2007 Warriors go from historic upset to missing POs to 20 wins
2008 Hornets go from team on the rise with perennial MVP candidate to first-round loss (including 121-63) to 37 wins
2009 Nuggets go from WCFs and apparent top challenger to Laker WC dominance to first-round loss (not to mention coach Karl's situation)
What terrible fate awaits the Spurs in 2011?

Watching the Suns rape the Spurs is quite infuriating. Just because I know we lost a series we didn't have to lose. The Spurs were NOT better than us, its a shame that once again we've wasted another year. We've had some pretty bad playoff losses. It's so frustrating to watch teams play with everything they have against us and then play like sh*t in the next round. I saw this with Miami, Golden State, and this years Spurs. I don't blame the Mavs for losing to the Hornets or Nuggets, both of those teams were better than us. But It hurt like hell after the finals debacle when the then "Nba Champion" Miami Heat was Swept by a young Bulls Team.
Golden State, after hitting every 3, throwing down crazy dunks, and wild layup finishes then went on to get owned by the Utah Jazz. The Baron over AK-47 dunk is overrated, in that when people see it they seem to think that series was an epic series. But it was mostly, Deron Williams and Boozer punishing the Warriors and making them look like the 8th seed they truly were. The Warriors should have been swept but they got hot in Game 3, but still they were eliminated 4-1.
This years Spurs won imho, because we obviously didn't play our best. Kidd couldn't put any pressure on their defense, we settled for so many outside shots when they didn't even have a shotblocking presence, and the Spurs really wanted to beat us because of our wins over them in the past years. And I'm not even going to speak about Carlislie's coaching, which resulted in our death from the playoffs. But the main fact is that the Spurs like the Warriors and Heat, were not better than us. We could have been such a great team, but we lose to inferior teams. I hope we can get a player that will change the culture around these parts some day.
