Eh. Must have been nerves, but he's also hit two game winners, so I don't know.

Exactly, and he's shown he's had 'em twice this year. That's why the missed XPT is a little surprising.

He needs a lot more work. He really, really needs a consistent ball flight. Until he gets that he'll always be inconsistent.

Well that's just great. Minnesota's beating of an uninspired Philly team playing for a chance at a bye means there is a good chance we might sneak out a victory and finish with 6 damn wins. They will definitely be resting their starters since they have been guaranteed the #3 seed no matter the outcome of the Dallas game. Sucks ass. With a loss (depending on other outcomes) we could have finished as high as 5th in the draft. With a win, well, we could drop very far.
Fark Minnesota and Fark the Eagles.

Dallas just needs to play McGee, and Sam Young, and check out the young'uns if Philly isn't going to play its starters anyway.

Link for draft status...
We currently sit at #7, but could move to #4 with a couple of improbable wins and a loss against Philly's B team. There is a very good chance we manage to win that game though, which could drop us as low as 13th. Just ridiculous if that happens. I will ask those of you that have contemplated us winning at all costs and avoiding a habit of losing and all of that the following question...
Would you hope Dallas loses against Philly with the hopes of Cincy and Buffalo winning for a chance at the 4th pick in the draft or win against Philly and possibly fall as low as 13th? It is pretty easy to spout that WIN AT ALL COSTS, DAMN THE PICKS crap when there are 8 games left in the season but when there is one game left and you are playing with Stephen Fing McGee and a slew of other backups I think the answer is staring you right in the face.
Lose.
Lose I say.
Lose.

We should definitely pull our starters against Philly - no need to injure them in a pointless game, plus we can see what we have in our 3rd-stringers...
(it also increases our chances of a loss, which should matter since we damn well know that all the other bottom-feeders are going to tank this weekend!)

Since my fantasy team already lost to UD, I say we give valuable playing time to all our rookies and see if any of our linemen can play other positions for future depth. Worst case, we gator-flop the crap out of the 4th quarter.

I don't think winning in Philly is something we have to worry too much about.

Which way? They have nothing to play for. They are locked in to the #3 seed, I thought. They could sit all their best players.

Exactly... And Garrett is motivated to win his final game and get that nasty taste out of his mouth from last week. Just a horrible, horrible loss to Minny by Philly for our luck. Here is hoping Philly's backups play better than our backups.

Kickers are pretty fickle bitches (to quote Benjamin Linus). He was a solid kicker for a very long time, so maybe he'll come back to previous form. Nick Folk did.

Sources: Jason Garrett the favorite
link
PHILADELPHIA -- Dallas Cowboys interim coach Jason Garrett is the leading candidate to become the full-time coach, according to multiple sources.
Garrett, who replaced Wade Phillips on Nov. 8, is under contract to the team as an assistant coach through the 2011 season. His contract as an interim coach expires a few days after the regular-season finale.
The Cowboys denied an NFL Network report that Garrett has been named the coach.
Cowboys officials can't name Garrett the coach until they go through a process that includes interviewing a minority candidate.
John Wooten, chairman of the Fritz Pollard Alliance, said the Cowboys have not yet compiled with the Rooney Rule. The Alliance follows minority hiring and gives teams a list of coaches to interview. Wooten said Ray Sherman, whom the Cowboys have yet to interview, is on their list of coaching candidates.
Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones said he plans on interviewing Sherman, the Cowboys wide receivers coach, and another minority candidate for the job. Jones, who interviewed 10 candidates in 2007 before hiring Phillips, said he doesn't plan on doing that again.
Sherman had not been interviewed for the job as of Sunday morning, a source said.
With the season coming to a close, it appears Garrett might become a hot coaching candidate. He's currently 4-3 as the interim coach and has changed the culture around Valley Ranch.
San Francisco, Carolina, Denver, Dallas and Minnesota are expected to have coaching openings when the regular season ends. Several other teams, Cincinnati, Miami, Houston, Oakland, Cleveland and the New York Giants could also make coaching changes.
"If I have the ability to go interview, the requirement to go interview, then logic would tell you he must have the right to be able to interview," Jones said of the possibility that Garrett will interview elsewhere.
Jones said last Monday that he doesn't have a timetable on naming his next coach.
The Cowboys play the Philadelphia Eagles in the team's season finale on Sunday.

I still prefer Cowher, but this team's problems run A LOT deeper than head coach, so whatever - if it wasn't for Fantasy Football, I'd be rooting for a lockout...

This is really a crappy, crappy feeling watching this Cowboys game. From what I understand, we would draft as high as #4 and no lower than #6 or #7 or so if we lose, but could drop all the way to #13 or so if we win. Man, I want that high draft pick. But it also feels so good when Ware sacks Kolb!

Exactly. Luckily, the offense ain't capable of anything, and even backups could score against our awful D. I'll take a 10-7 Eagles final with Ware picking up a couple more sacks. I hate saying it, though, but that's such a huge difference in draft position. Prince Amukamara or Patrick Peterson at #5 would be huge. And it's not just round 1. You also get that kind of high draft pick for every round, which would be great in shoring up the o-line and secondary.

I guess we now draft #10 or #11. Not sure how high it would have been if we had lost. Maybe #6?

10 or 11 will be out for Peterson or Amukamara, and there are no offensive linemen projected that high. Vomit.

The Cowboys are going to have to do a LOT to make me give a sh!t about them next season - there's very little to like about this team.

Oh, I will give a shit. With Romo back, 88 back, a coach other than a piece of shit marshmallow (even if Garrett), and hopefully a much upgraded O-Line/Secondary.
I gave a shit when Quincy was here. I will always care. But I can't get past how unbelievably stupid today was. So angry. They literally failed in every possible opportunity this year. Failed to start the year to go 1-7 and then failed to succeed in the draft by ending the year 5-3. This loss is primarily Minny's fault, but still. So dumb.
For all those Fers that wanted a strong finish, how do you feel now? Say good. I dare you.

If my math is right based on the 5-win teams that won today and the strength of schedule article over at BTB.com we should have the 9th pick in the draft. Sigh...

Carolina, Denver, Cincy, Buffalo, Arizona, SF, and Cleveland.
Sorry, 8th. Not HORRIBLE I guess. Still, so stupid to win today but it looks like it may have only dropped us 2 spots. The first tiebreaker to overall record is strength of schedule so unless I fail to understand something further we are 8th instead of 6th.
Had more 5-win teams lost today, this could have been much worse. Thank you Houston and Detroit (SF too, but they had a better SoS) as they kept us from picking 10th (again, if my math/understanding is correct).

8th you'll at least have a shot at one of the two cornerbacks. Anyone else in the mood for a cornerback and signing Champ Bailey as a safety (which he says he wants to do to extend his career)?

Houston, Tennessee, Washington, and Seattle could all slide ahead of us, right? I don't think Minny's SOS should drop that much, but they did play Detroit today.
Ugh.
