Those guys are absolute trash. Cubes and Donnie better work fxcking hard this off season because Dirk's window is rapidly closing. Players like Barea and Jet aren't going to cut it(At least in the roles they're currently playing).

The sad thing is, Matrix has been playing pretty darn well at the 3, solidifying the frontcourt. But it's impossible to win with such an atrocious backcourt.
Worst backcourt in the NBA.
Dirk/Matrix/Haywood: 19-31, 36 rebounds.
Terry/JJB/Roddy/DeShawn (Spare Unit): 12-32, 14 assists to 13 turnovers.

If Dirk wanted to win a championship, he should have left.

I thought Barea was absolutely brilliant in the third quarter. What do you want from him?

He can't leave now. He is owed 65mil/3yrs. His contract is an albatross.

No, his contract isn't an albatross. The line would form to the left..

To be a really good backup, not our only viable, mediocre, undersized first option for everything outside of Dirk.

Lol, EVERY team in the league is willing to pay that to get their hands on Dirk.

The crazy thing is, these guys, Cuban, Nelson are tapping themselves on the back for finding Barea, Boobs. But then putting them into the 8 man rotation is where they're shooting themselves in the foot. Brewer or Stevenson has to start at the 2 and get a total of at least 20-30 combined. Having mini me's in Barea and Jet manning the spot, isn't worth a darn any more. Kidd 30, Barea 10, Jet 8, 2 guard, Brewer, Stevenson, 30, Jet 18, small forward Marion 24, Peja 24, power forward Dirk 36, Marion 12, and chandwood in the middle.

He is a really good backup. He's one of the best backup PG's in the league.
Do you think other teams have awesome starting-caliber guards filling out their backup PG ranks?

What really hurts at the PG position is that the Mavs don't have a viable starting option.

Not that the guards are excellant but they just don't fit this type of offense. This offense runs on Kidd. It is geared to him and anyone who is not like him is not going to run it smoothly. the problem is that Kidd does not play like a normal point guard. He plays well like Kidd. The rest of the team is adapted to him and thats why Roddy has a hard time trying to mesh the offense. JJB is a freelancer and just basically creates his own shots. Roddy could do that but they want him to play more like a playmaker. In fact they are grooming him to. JJB also has been on the team longer and has experience where as Roddy does not. Remember how JJB played when he first started for the Mavs. I think it is less the guards than it is the system they are asked to fit into. Unfortunately the system which most certainly must change can only happen in the off season. Think about it Kidd and the back ups JJB or Roddy are totally dissimular in skill set. JJb has had last year of playing on the floor with Kidd. Thats what shoud have happened with Roddy too but that did not happen and now they reap the consequences.

Great points, JJB brings more of a prototypical NBA PG, thus easier for him to mesh, I think Kidd is more of a facilitator from 15 feet and higher, JJ and most PGs can facilitate from any point on the floor. I think Kidd has to attack more, keep the defense on their toes. Roddy is great for Kidd as a catch and shoot guy, or if a defender's closign out, roddy can attack draw, and dump, or finish.
