I hope we can overcome it.

You're probably right.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see a Trail Blazer parade at the free throw line.
I want Dirk to OWN them.

It would have been even more difficult to overcome if guys like Fernandez, Beaubois, and Mahinmi had been playing in the 4th.

(I was actually a little surprised by how many images of David Stern came up in my search for this pic...)

If the refs start giving more calls to Portland it should get more people calling foul on the officiating.

It happened in the Houston series a while back
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/3163505.html
And in the games following the complaints, the refs did change how they called the game. Big time.

Game 2 might be where Brewer get's his time to shine...if the Blazers come out with alot of energy and the Mavs can't match it then it might be time to throw Brewer in there.

I don't have as much faith in Brewer as most people around here, but I completely agree with this.

What we need is for Kidd to say to the rest of the team hey I'm 38 years old you going to let this old man show you up? Maybe such a challenge would pump them up.
As far as Peja is concerned while he may produce for us on the perimeter as others have said he is a liability on the D.

Funny, the other way around the Mavs would get two or three times the amount of the fine and the next game even less calls...

If JET and Marion step up, I think we win the game and ultimately the series.
If we don't win the game, it's going to be reaaaal hard to win game 3 or 4 in Portland.
I also think the Mavs overcoming the diversity in the 4th quarter was huge. It had a very big "here we go again" feeling and they just plowed right through it. Could mean big things.

I think the Mavs can overcome anything that's thrown at them. The media bashing they receive daily is always going to keep those guys motivated. And I feel like the team is looking at this series differently from years past. Instead of them thinking "OMG, what are we gunna do if Portland beats us?" They're thinking "This is our chance to prove ourselves to all of our doubters". Just my two cents.

Right on. I also like how calm and confident Dirk appeared in today's post-training interview.

Yahoo Pick Results has Mavs 59% Trailblazers 41%.

You know..Dirk's scoring was down this year. His rebounding was down...I suppose you see more and more just what it's all about... The playoffs. I'd like to see more of this aggressiveness during the season, but then again..he might not survive until the post season if he were to play like this all season long.

Yep, I think that's why he had nothing left in the tank the year he won his MVP - Avery pushed him to the point of exhaustion a couple weeks before the playoffs rolled around... His regular season stats were beefy, but his playoff energy level suffered.

I wish national TV stations would keep filming the Mavs players after a big shot like they do with all the other teams, instead of always defaulting to show Mark Cuban.

One assessment of the fouls called and not called in game 1:
http://refcalls.com/2011/04/19/blaze...break-it-down/
Bottom line is when you look at the entire game there is no discrepancy according to this site. Although these analysts seem to think there were some legitimate issues in the fourth quarter.

Anybody else find it funny that Crawford was assigned the Dal/Port series after Mcmillan b#itches about the refs?
What are we like 2 and 20 in the playoff games Crawford officiates?
I call pregame bullsh.

RICK CARLISE. If we lost, more than anything else it would have been on him. There was absolutely NO excuse or justification to playing JJB 19 minutes (told you he would get 15-20) 6 straight in the 4th. NONE. That's when Portland went up by 6. It was unreal. He waited too long to put Kidd back in, and WAY too long to put Marion back in. I was astonished after he put Kidd in and kept JJB in (with Kidd and Terry). That is BAD coaching and it WILL cost us a game if he does it again.

To start the 4th he had JJB and no center in the game. That started the avalanche...then he played the 3 guard lineup, and JJB the whole rest of the 4th, with no Marion.

Refs took control of this game. Donaghy said it best, league mandates ref to start favoring any team down in the series, to extend it. So they decided to take out Chandler for us.

I blame this loss on those who decided to kick Roy while he was down..even tho we were winning.. Told you it might not be a good idea.

I couldn't resist posting. LONGTIME MAVS FAN BACK IN THE DAYs of oblivion! Portland is tough to beat at home. Shooting percentage lights out last night. Mavs weren't there shot for shot period and turn overs! Carlise has them playing D who knew? Dirk is playing D!!!!!!!!!!!! Carlise is doing a good job. This series is gonna be tough but the Mavs will pull it out. It's a long way to the top and the Mavs are once again climbing the mountain. Would like to see Dirk get a ring...

Yeah, that...or you could actually read the bolded part of my quote which I bumped. Some here thought that there was no cause to complain about a poor coaching decision in a win. I contested that the same mistake WILL cost us a game in the future. And it did. Would you prefer a start a whole thread dedicated to RC's poor rotations in the 4th? Or better yet, perhaps we should just sweep it under the rug and ignore it.

I know what some here thought, I do read...most times. Mavs777 gave a few examples in his semi-sarcastic reply about other reasons why we came up short. Imo you have a point about the coach and JJB in the 4th but I agree with him as well that it's not just because he left JJB in too long. Marion, Chandler were amongst the cluster of problems too, dumbass.
