I like how there are 3-4 posts on here and I've found 3-4 tweets complaining about what Terry said, but I can't find what he said.

True and true. Nothing to see here. Bosh is bottom feeder, thus the wide open shot.

4th Quarter Last Night:
Dirk: 15 points, 4-7. 4 rebounds.
Rest of team: 7 points, 3-7 (Jet 0-4). 6 rebounds.
That'll do it.

Dirk and Just Easy Turnover fuc.. up last minute.
Playing like that Mavs won't win a title. Keep the fu... focus or die, don't say me Kidd is turnover machine, Dirk has most turnovers from all players in both teams. If they want this title, they have to step up with focus.
MIA had more assists, that only shows how bad our pressing was.
We need Haywood for sure, Mahinmi was terrible, James and Wade destroyed him.
So Carlisle is in TOP 5 ? Still playing Stojakovic not Brewer, and so many minutes for Barea.
No time for rest, that's our time, play Dirk and Kidd more minutes.
Now or never!

The thing is, even if Terry, Barea, and Peja would have just played average it would have been enough to help Dirk get this team over the hump, but they're just flat out stinking it up. The shots and opportunities are there, the capitalizing isn't which is incredibly unfortunate at this stage. They need to have some kind of pow wow and really think about what's at stake. It's certainly not too late to be a difference maker in this series.

Yea jet is one of the biggest talking non- clutch types I've seen in a while. It's almost to the point that it's a transparent motivational ploy.

It seems very tongue-in-cheek these days. Just don't really see the point of saying that Juwan Howard could have hit that shot.

Carlisle will be forced to trot out brewer because he's quickly losing faith that he can cover up pejasmdefensive issues with invisible offense.
Be ready Corey, you are probably about to get an introduction to the ref-diva effect.

Yea but he did hit the shot. That's more than the guy who is flapping his gums did in the fourth last night.

I don't know...I wish he would, I just don't see Coach playing Brewer (except maybe in Game 5 if we lose tom...alla Roddy in Game 6 vs. SA). Too little too late.

YEah, at this point you kinda are what you are. Talking isn't going to do anything but magnify and highlight the fact that it's painfully obvious that they need to step it up. They can talk about how they aren't playing to the level it takes to get past the Heat in the locker room all they want, but they are all on their own on the floor in those moments. Jet is what he is, a streaky shooter and we need him to be on a hot streak from here on out for us to win. Without Caron; JJB, Peja and JET have got to find away to pick it up. Marion needs to stop with the mental lapses and keep his missed layups and failures to box out to a minimum. These little errors are mounting up and its just also coming at a time where it kills momentum.

Terry said two things that stuck out.
Quote:
"Let's see if [LeBron] can defend me like that for 7 games."
|
Now, in fairness, that's absolutely the attitude I want him to have. If he's going to concede defeat to LeBron, then we have no chance. But keep it to yourself. There's no reason to say that.
Quote:
“Portland, by far, has the best D,” Terry said. Terry followed that up by saying that Miami has a “great scheme” that is “working for them thus far this series.” But he attributes the Mavs’ offensive issues more to self-inflicted mistakes than anything Miami has done.
|
It doesn't offend me that he thinks the Mavs' wounds are self-inflicted, cause I think he's right. But when you start to go comparing the Heat's D to the Blazers'---even if you're 100% right (he's not)---it just sounds ridiculous.

Also, one of the things I've always admired about Terry is his positive attitude. It's tough to be an optimist all the time, but he pretty much always has been. After years like 06 and 07, he was the only guy you could count on to not sound completely defeated and depressed. That's a quality I admire in people, not just athletes.
But these days, he's letting that optimism morph into some absurd hubris. It does him no favors. Just smile and say something positive, dude. No need to start taking jabs at LeBron, the Heat's D, whatever. It doesn't help at all.

I'm actually really depressed today. The Basketball Gods are so cruel... how in the hell can the Mavs lose to Wade and the heat AGAIN after all Dirk has worked for and done it the RIGHT way.
ughh.
I'm not 100% sure we're going to lose this series... but we have to win the next two to have any chance. I'd feel a lot better if I had seen any signs that someone besides Dirk is able to score against this team... but I dunno.

(Slightly misleading) headline: Dirk Calls Out Jason Terry Before Game 4

And that is why many people outside of Dallas hate him. And that is why many Dallas fans are starting to hate him.
You know, if he had MJ talent, I could understand it. But Terry is Grover Dill to Dirk's Scut Farkus. Without Scut, he is just a pipesqueak who Randy could beat the sh*t out of even if he can't put his arms down.

These NBA Finals almost remind of that Mavs vs Nuggets series in 09 where Dirk was the only person that could really score vs the Nuggets.
I still wish Caron Butler was playing because I really think these Finals would be way different with Butler and not Peja out there.
It's almost like Dirk is playing 1 vs 3 when playing the Heat because Dirk is the only player on the Mavs that can match Wade, James or Bosh point for point.

Rewatching it a little bit and the Mavs did get up 5 early in the first.
Also the Mavs are not giving any hard fouls at all.
And the team really cannot stand the Peja minutes. His defense is nonexistent and he doesn't provide enough force down low, he is just flopping around.

What pisses me off most about Peja is he always ends up guarding either Lebron or Wade and that's just unacceptable.

He can't guard Bosh either... so we're pretty much screwed with him in the lineup.

Jason Terry really needs to do less talking and more proving. Just shut the F up and play. Don't even let him speak to the media. What will Jet use as an excuse for why Lebronze shuts him down again?

Just tell Rick that. He won't play Brewer.
I pretty much like most things about Coach other than his inability to trust younger players. It is worse with Brewer who has been in the league FOR FOUR YEARS.

“Jet (Terry’s nickname) hasn’t really been a crunch-time, clutch player for us the way we need him to,” Nowitzki said Monday. “We have to find a way to get Jet some freedom and get him off some movement, and he’s got to make some shots for us.”

There's a lot to read in between those words. I could see Dirk was frustrated with JET yesterday, but it seems like it's worse than I thought.

I wonder what Dirk had to say about throwing the ball away with under :45 secs left last night.

He's just stating what the team normally gets out of jet but is not getting one. I didn't see much to it. Acknowledging that to win jet has to play better.

I don't think it's like that. I think this just goes back to what they were talking about before Game 3. They have a relationship where they hold each other accountable.
I hope it helps. Terry needs to GHST if we're gonna win this thing. Maybe it'll take his longest tenured teammate saying this to get him through it.

Probably that he's entitled to make ONE mistake when he's scored the team's last 12 points.
And for the record, that turnover isn't even 100% on him. Marion cut when Dirk thought he was going to stay there for the pass. It would have made more sense for Marion to have stayed and caught it out of the double (because the angle was easier for the pass) and THEN taken the open lane to the cup (exact same thing happened in the Game 2 comeback, and Marion scored). Obviously not saying the play is completely on Matrix, because Dirk should have made sure he was still there before passing, but it's not like that was all on Dirk anyway.
