Game logs and play by play

Does anyone know where I can find this for the past... however long. I was wanting to check out the clutch numbers for Finals MVP's during their playoff runs since 1980 or so. But, to do so, I need somewhere with the play by play.

I'm more than willing to pull the data and crunch the numbers for the past 31 years if I can actually find the play by play.

http://www.basketballgeek.com/data/ this has Some stuff... you'll probably have to aggregate to get the last 31 seasons though

This guy tried to do something similar, and he makes it sound like reliable play-by-play data doesn't exist before 1996-97.

I think it's entirely plausible that we just witnessed the greatest run of 4th quarter performances in the playoffs in NBA history, and I'd like to see it well documented too. If you can find a good source i'll chip in and work up a few seasons.
