I was just wondering what part of Cali your from? I'm moving to Santa Cruz in August (getting a beach house with a friend!) and will most likely be working in San Jose (hopefully as a multimedia/web designer and private personal trainer). I remember you mentioned going to Warriors games, so I figured you must be from around the San Fran area or something. Have you ever been go San Jose/Santa Cruz? And if so, anything to do around there? Maybe we can catch some Mavs/Warriors games next year

Hey DJ...I live in Modesto, it's like halfway between Oakland and Sacramento, give or take a few miles
I have some friends in San Jose and there's much more to do there than Santa Cruz. God, I loved Santa Cruz when I was a kid, the boardwalk and stuff, the roller coasters I haven't been there in a couple years, maybe 4-5, so some things have probably changed. There might be things to do now, I know spring vacation used to be a big party on the boardwalk but I think they cleaned some of that up now but you still find ways around it There's some pretty scenery to look at, Im not sure if your into any of that but it's there. Im about an hour and 15 from there.
San Jose is like other towns, you find things to do but it's not San Francisco or NY, but who cares, when San Fran is around the corner practically I don't know what your into, I don't think there's that many good clubs in San Jose but you go to San Fran for that anyway most of the time. They do have some awesome movie houses and get a lot of the limited releases that usually hit only NY and LA which is cool if your into movies. I don't know what all to do in San Jose cause we always hit San Fran. Im about an hour and 45 from San Jose depending on traffic Traffic is the only thing that I can say sucks for sure, I know San Jose has some gang activity but it's usually if your looking for it or in the wrong place kind of thing, just like other towns, you know?
I'd love to catch a warriors game next season, it's a good arena to watch basketball and cheap because of the state of the franchise. Soon as Sacramento heated up so did the prices but it's the Kings so you pay to see your favorite team play there twice a season.
You'll have to let me know when you get here, etc...we'll work something out.

San Fran definitely sounds like the place to be! From what I've been told, my place will be about 20-30mins (barring traffic) away from San Jose. I hope there are some pretty cool bars and clubs there..the nightlife in Dallas is ok but can get boring real fast. My friend is moving there with me, so I won't be completely alone, but I'm eager to get out there and meet some new people.
How far away is Santa Cruz from Sacramento? I'd love to see some Mavs/Kings games out there! I'm sure they'll be more interesting than the games against the Warriors

DJ, you'll love San Francisco! The only downside I can think of for SF is the driving, there's a lot of 1-way streets but it's easy to correct a mistake though. There's a bar called Slims that is awesome and has some great concerts there too. You'll have to check it out.
If your into seafood, your in for a treat. Sourdough bread, good god it's something. Plus, there's a bunch of shops to check out, some of it's junky but fun to look through, I don't think you'll ever get bored there.
How far are you from Sacramento? No more than 2 hours unless traffic is just horrendous, Im talking like an accident has slowed things down or something spilled, etc...It's worth to make the trip down to see the Kings even if Webber leaves.

Hey! Does anyone know the hot spots around San Diego? Too bad you are all so far north.

I've been thinking about possibly relocating to San Fran however from what I hear the cost of living is pretty high there. What are the average rents for one or two bedroom apartments?
