Don't hold your breath... He's only averaged 13.8 MPG over 4 games - he still has a lot more work to do before he's in game shape.

No defensive energy. No offensive creativity.
I think we'll be fine defensively. Just a bad night on that end. But man, the lack of good shooters on the corners, the lack of offense at center, and the lack of penetration makes this offense real ugly. The ugliest since we were starting Gary Trent.

Father time had a large trophy rammed down his throat last year, and low BBIQ is far from undefeated.

Yuck...really made me rethink my custom of staying to the end... That was putrid. I'm shocked the boo birds didn't come out, I think the championship has made lots of folks cut them slack.
They stunk.

Carter, Roddy were trash.
Based on expectations I'm even more disappointed with West though. He had three early assists to Dirk and finished with a total of 4, which pretty much sums up the way he "led" the team throughout.

Carter has played like trash for awhile now. Roddy is in a slump. West is streaky as usual. Better than Roddy but not the savior. Oh well. Looking like a short playoff run.

I'm not sure West was better than Roddy tonight... but they were both beyond horrible.
West has always been this way, btw. Everyone forgot while he was gone but even when he was healthy playing good he was inconsistent. He'd have 1 really good game, 1 mediocre game, 1 bad game, repeat. Everyone was being unrealistic to expect him to be some sort of savior. He was never all that more consistent than Roddy to begin with.
That said, Roddy has turned back in to trash. I'm out on him. Done. He's had enough chances. Nobody loved Roddy more than me but seriously, enough. We have no options this year but he needs to be gone next year, let someone else try and fix whatever it is that's wrong in his head.

I missed the game but I'm just going to assume the defense was horrible again and Terry jacked up a bunch of terrible shots.

Our whole backcourt is terrible. No any other way to put it. Last year, we scored on "system plays", and that worked beautifully, this year, the whole system is shot, our players can't be at the same spots, therefore we take horrible shots. You know you have a problem, when Haywood and Marion takes jumpshots.
They not necessarily do that because they want to, the ball simply end up in their hands when there isn't much time on the shot clock, and they end up taking the shot. The whole offense is garbage, all year long. We really didn't play that great of a defense last night, and they still only got 94 points. We're a good defensive team.
Our offense though, is terrible, we simply don't have the personal anymore, Dirk is still Dirk, and that was always enough for a top 10 offensive team in the Dirk era, sometimes we were 1st, and top 5 a couple other times, it's all gone. If we get Deron, i wouldn't mind the FO building a whole team around them, amnesty Haywood, trade Marion for cap space, and sign younger guys, bring over Calathes (who i'm very high on) and retool.
Every single detail screams that this team - constructed as now - is done. Of course i'll believe in them until we lose in the playoffs, that's what a fan must do, but that will be a pure emotional thing, realistically, this team has not much chance against this year's contenders. Oh well, i still think Cuban made the right decisions, let's say he brings everyone back, he could have easily cripple the franchise until Dirk's retiring, for a very slight chance to repeat. He made the good decision.

Defense was all right, other than defending the 3-point line. Offense was beyond putrid. Like a high school girls team, some of our possessions were straight up comical, like a burlesque.

Definitely never going to win when Foye goes for 28 points. This was a big game, but the team can't hang on to Kidd forever. Roddy just isn't a pg, and West has a broken hand. Could be a rough week. HAVE to beat Memphis on Wednesday.

Career nights for guys like Foye is nothing new against our backcourt. There is always a PG/SG guy shooting lights out against us....

Actually JET had a decent second half and was the only one to attack the rim.

I think Foye is partly on the coaching stuff. You can't play that much zone when someone goes crazy like that.

The zone is a lot more effective when our guys are scrambling. Time after time, we were extremely slow on our rotations. I'm actually not discouraged by our defensive performance last night, I think it was just the team being lethargic.
The biggest problem last night was offense. Very poor ball movement, slow off the ball action, poor shooting, and no penetration. Again, I think a lot of that is energy, but there are are some real underlying problems here. I think this year's team is the worst offensive team we've had since Dirk's second year, and possibly even since before Nellie got here.

This is pathetic, defending Champs are average team in this league.
All TOP NBA teams can beat Mavs by more than 15 tps.
Less Kidd, more West? This doesn't help.

“I have no idea, but we’re going to have to figure it out,” Terry said. “If I have to take more responsibility and try to shoot more, shoot 30 times, that’s what I’m going to do.”
Haha, no terry, thats not how you "figure it out".
