PGT: Mavs take 63 minutes to cough one up to the Jazz
Carlisle called Mahinmi's number and he peed his pants with 6 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 TO and 5 fouls in 36 minutes... No Wright for whatever reason (1 rebound, 2 blocks in 6 minutes).
Mavs - 41 rebounds (7 offensive)
Jefferson - 26 rebounds (5 offensive)
Dirk with a 40 point loss...

Ian failed.
3rd string center for the minimum next season. Best case.
Too bad we didnt win, would have been a nice emotional push for the playoffs. Well, lets blow out the Rockets on Wednesday then.

Refs were special
Jazz broadcasting crew should be sentenced to monogamy for their performance tonight...

That stretch between the last two games of the season became THAT much more valuable now.

Refs in LA, Refs in Utah and sometimes the refs even in our bloody home court. Do we ever get a break? I can't even say all of this is on the refs.

I'll be happy and a bit surprised if we beat the Rockets at all. I'll gladly take a one point win, as Houston is much more athletic and we just played 3 OTs.

This was probably the best we've seen them this season. On offense at least.

Refs were generally bad, not penalizing the Mavs.
They missed three last possession fouls (Terry, Kidd, Harris). And all three were pretty obvious. Not to mention multiple charge/block miscues on both ends and out-of-bounds plays.

We probably win this game if Marion plays the latter part of the game... I think Carlisle probably knows that as well, but Rick's less concerned about the results of one game and more concerned about the journey to repeat... We all know that Carlisle likes to limit the regular season mileage on our veterans, even when you might least expect it, but I also think Carlisle likes to force them to play under-manned and be a little more uncomfortable out there... Taking Kidd out after OT 2 for example, Rick knows that having Kidd out there gives them the best chance to win, but sitting Kidd gives Kidd extra rest and also heaps more adversity on the rest of the team... To Rick, it seems just as important to teach, as it is to win, at least in the regular season... It would be nice to have both, but I saw nothing tonight that makes me think we wont or can't win close games in the playoffs...

To me, what hurt the Mavs most was the effective dribble penetration of Harris and Hayward. They had 12 assist between them that created all kinds of options for them.

Look at Haywood's line tonight, which is pathetic. Zero points, zero FT attempts, 2 rebounds. Ian not much better.

This. Matt Harpring basically admitted he has some sort of pathetic grudge against Dirk, and thus spent the entire night slandering him. Wildly unprofessional.

This game should have been won in the first OT. Jason Kidd didn't even try to contest the 2 open threes early in OT, simply running out and putting a hand up could have changed the release point on the shots.

This game should have been won in the 1st quarter - the Mavs never found any consistency between offense or defense tonight.

Jeez, Haywood was awful...
Dirk gets nice boost when accounting for defense bc he guarded Millsap most of the time, who sucked.

Although I have to say that I was pleased with his activeness on defense early in the game, but that evaporated pretty fast.

So what did you guys think of the Delonte sticking his finger in Hayward's ear incident?
The Utah crew were calling for him to be ejected, and were screaming that the league will suspend him when it's reviewed.
The finger in the ear thing, while clearly out of line, to me isn't nearly as bad as what he said while he did it... Which was... "punk ass white boy."
A single technical does seem like he got off light. Maybe it just seems worse because it was Hayward. Picking on him is like kicking a puppy.

So basically we need to go 2-2 to guarantee an embarrassing first-round playoff exit.
Is that about right?

Are you kidding me?
OKC or San Antonio are going to bounce our old crew of washed up creakbags right out of the postseason in an embarrassing fashion.
Don't even get me started on the Lakers...Bynum will look like a HOFer against our awful centers.

There wont be back-to-backs in the playoffs. in addition we'll have one week rest between the end of the regular season and the start of the playoffs...

OK.
The rest will only benefit the Mavs, not the opponents.

Still think we should not amnetsy Wood and try somethning else ? Guy is becoming worthless like Erica freakin Diopier.
But hey, i am the worst poster here...i think West is better than Roddy and things like that... nevermind lol.
Wood reminds me of Patrick Ewing in his last season. He can't even stretch his knees and go for a rebound...
