Jet SnT? No, apparently not.
DLord has it on Twitter and DB.com that the Mavs have a SnT for Jet.

I'm curious to see how they did this. My my numbers, (and DLords), they didn't have enough room to SnT Jet.

Assuming Pietrus' knees aren't completely shot, I love this deal

I guess that means they aren't looking for Courtney Lee anymore.
But it doews give the Mavs a solid PG in Dooling and a solid SG in Pietrus.

Wow! Not sure what this does for Delonte and any shooters the Mavs might be looking at. Dooling is a decent backup PG. Maybe a three team deal where one or more of these guys go elsewhere?

Welcome back, Sean Williams! What??
Dooling doesn't do much for me, but Pietrus could be interesting... How many players do we have now? We obviously have some more moves coming up, even if it's just outgoing...
I'm guessing the pick is a future second-rounder?

Always been a fan of Pietrus. I'm hoping he'll have a nice effect on Roddy.

He's backing down from it now. Not surprised. When has DLord ever broken trade or FA news?

While he hasn't ever broken anything, I also feel like it's really out character for him to jump the gun like that.
Weird.

Hazy as in it's not done yet. Think they're still looking for ways to sign him without burning their MLE.

If they do, you can probably scratch Courtney Lee off the list IMO.

That's why the deal from DLord made at least some amount of sense to me. They were acquiring a defensive swingman that can hit the three in the S&T.
Edit: Although, it just struck me...Pietrus and Dooling are both free agents. So we can just go get Pietrus if we want him. We would just be doing Boston a huge solid by doing that deal (and acquiring a pick).

Would this deal make more sense if the Mavs win out on the Scola bid? Or am I missing something about the cap hit?

If the Mavs win the Scola bid they can't do this deal. In reality, they already don't have enough room to do the deal, but they could move Dom Jones for nothing or waive Carter and create enough room if they wanted.

Aw.
If Boston is desperate to keep their MLE available, could we make them take DoJo as well?

I was given bad information and unfortunately passed it along without enough verification. Sorry about that. Mavs sources have since told us explicitly that the idea of a JET snt ended when his Bird rights were renounced, and there's nothing on the table there at all.

It is rumored that Toronto is a possible third team. It's very complicated, involving numerous minor filler contracts, but the rumor says Dallas would get Calderon. Boston would get Terry. Toronto would save money and pick up some young players and possibly other assets.

Unless you've seen something that I haven't, this isn't a "rumor" it's an article from DLord saying "here's how this could work". Two very different things.

I can see RC liking this a lot...Calderon setting the big men, pushing DC, he fits great with the Mavs.

Just a manufactured idea by me. This is the only thing I can think of that might have legs.
Boston in: Jason Terry, Brian Cardinal (min S&T)
Boston out: Keyon Dooling (S&T, team options on years 2 and 3), Sean Williams, protected 1st
Toronto in: Dominique Jones, Yi Jianlian (min S&T), Keyon Dooling, Sean Williams (non-guaranteed; cut), Boston 1st
Toronto out: Jose Calderon
Dallas in: Jose Calderon
Dallas out: Jason Terry, Dominique Jones, Brian Cardinal, Yi Jianlian
Boston ultimately gets what they want out of the deal (MLE remaining available)
Dallas gets Calderon
Toronto unloads Calderon and...yeah

Of all the possibly realistic backcourt gets out there, I think Calderon interests me the most. Yeah, he's not a SG. And yeah, he'd be a weak link defensively. But he's also a very, very good offensive point guard, and the best play-maker the Mavs could even hope to find this side of Steve Nash. Dallas is looking at a pretty damn offensively skilled and versatile front-court as of right now, and an orchestrator like Calderon would be a potent addition to the mix, IMO.

Totally with you on this GC. I like Courtney Lee a lot and would love to see him here. My concern would be what happens if Darren Collison doesnt play up to expectations? Delonte West is a good combo guard to have around but to me plays like a combo guard and is not enough of a distributor at times. Pounds the rock too much and sometimes guilty of heat checks too early in the clock.
Calderon would be my first choice if there is a 3 way trade available using S'n'T and we essentially give up no assets to get him. Pure point guards like Calderon run the offense efficiently and make everyone else better.

With Calderon you could afford to have a defensive guy like dahntay out there with dirk, Kaman and Marion. Otherwise I think you'd be obligated to throw out a more offensively talented SG. Calderon would be a very nice piece if we could solidify the line behind him, which is possibly with twin 7-footers, marion and a decent guard.
And I think people are correct that outside of Nash and deron, there really isn't an available pg out there more qualified to run an offense.

Really hoped Dallas could get James Johnson (traded for 2nd round picks) and Calderon, that would allow us to trade Carter and play Calderon as PG or SG. Because we would always be able to but 2 good front line defenders next to Calderon (Marion/Johnon and Collinson/West) and hide Calderon weak defense. But it seems they think Dahntay Jones can fill this place. In my opinion Johnson would be really usful against Kobe/Durant etc.

No sign and trade for Dallas and Boston:
Steve Bulpett: Having exhausted S&T scenarios to keep the $5M midlevel slot free, source says Celtics getting ready to make JTerry signing official.
