JJB at 134 - comfortably ahead of both Kidd and West. Surprising - but even more surprisingly, he was top 100 last year.

I Lol'ed at this when I saw ESPN's tweet.
That bitch shouldn't even be top 300.

Kaman at 113 - meaning the Mavs still not on the list:
Brand
Mayo
Collison
Marion
Nowitzki
Betting that Nowitzki around 10, Marion in the 30-40s, Mayo in the 50s, Brand in the 80s, Collison in the 90s.

So now we are at number 90 and only Brand and Dirk are left.

So the Mavs will have 1 of the top 80 or so players in the NBA on the roster?

Wow, I was way off on my predictions.
Marion got shafted in these rankings.

Lol, only Dirk left.
2nd best MAV is Brand at 85.
So according to ESPN this is a pretty crappy team, if you ask me. Let's see how it plays out.

Really crazy rankings.
I somehow believe Dirk will be ranked in the 20's. : )
Btw: The Nets have their starting five ranked ahead of every Maverick except Dirk : p
Also: Never would have thougt that DeAndre 'I can't do anything else but jump' Jordan would be ranked in the top100...

I created a similar list before ESPN started coming out with theirs.. They've done a pretty decent job. We differ quite a bit from numbers 375 on up...but a good list.

Bryant won't be anywhere near top 5 after this season. He's already turned into a perimeter chucker and won't be the best player on his own team if they win the title.

14 months after he demolished the entire NBA with a Larry Bird / Michael Jordan-esque championship run, Dirk is demoted to 11th. Alright, time for Dirk and the Mavs to make these look completely silly.

Deron Williams moves to Brooklyn, gets rated higher than Dirk... Hilarious.
Could a mod please delete the internet? Thanks.

Who the hell honestly cares or is getting riled up about this ranking system ESPN has come up with?

The list of voters is pretty long
http://espn.go.com/nba/notebook/_/id...s-contributors
makes it all look quite representative for the average NBA fan. It does not tell how good/bad Dirk really is, but it definitely tells a lot about how he is perceived.

Here's how much weight you can put into these rankings. You have wackos like Bayless claiming Carmelo to not only be better than Dirk but be firmly in the top 10.

At least Stephen A has some sense in him. Really, he's the only respectable guy that works for ESPN.

There's few that I despise more than Stephen A. Smith. He's one guy that this world would be fine without.

I know these things are silly, but I think it's still interesting in some kind of odd, Love-to-hate-on-the-"Experts" sort of way. Sorry if someone posted it somewhere else. But here you go:
Mavs:
http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/page/...llas-mavericks
#26 Dirk Nowitzki
#84 Monta Ellis
#109 Jose Calderon
#135 Shawn Marion
#142 Vince Carter
#195 Brandan Wright
#205 Samuel Dalembert
#209 Devin Harris
#256 DeJuan Blair
#277 Wayne Ellington
#279 Jae Crowder
#339 Shane Larkin
#358 Gal Mekel
#386 Ricky Ledo
#427 Bernard James
#499 Fab Melo
Rankings:

Calderon, Marion and specially Ellis are underrated, Melo probably overrated.
And Dirk barring injuries is still a top 20 player.

Can't wait till we play HOU and kick their butts. Dwight is probably top 5. and Harden top 10.
...and then we will go from there and kick some more butts.
Only MIA and BKN scares me. Tough matchups.

In other words, we are a lottery team. Boy, how I love to see the Mavs prove those "experts" wrong.
