Yeah, saw it & it was AWESOME. Here's a site that has the video download if anyone wants to see it:
Jeff's Stars site.
That was just one SICK hit, man. Apparently, Boulerice never came back after leaving the game. Good to see Downey get some ice time.

Thats a huge hit. However what are the refs doing in this one??
Especially that one ref in front of the two, he´s making that "engage" sign like he was a ring judge. You could see that fight coming for a pretty long time. I haven´t followed the NHL closely in the last few years, but I´ve never seen anything like this. Is it a new directive or something to entertain the fans? I know that fights have allways been a part of the NHL game, but here it seems like the ref yells "Let´s get ready to rumble!" or something.

i didn't see anything out of the ordinary from the refs... they usually jump in once the players are entangled

I think the referees sortof encourage fighting Fidel. It makes their job easier when the players can settle disputes themselves.

What a punch!
And very good video.
Why do the refs let them fight? They could have really stopped it.

they're gonna fight regardless..either let them get it out of their system or try and break it up while tempers are boiling over and take an elbow or shot in the mouth

The refs always wait for the worst of it to be over before jumping in. But I don't think anyone (even Downey) knew that hit was coming. Downey was actually really upset when he found out Boulerice might have a concussion. Here's the DMN story.

ESPN's injury list has Boulerice as a "possible concussion" & questionable. Speaking of which, our injury list is getting lengthy. Now Turco & Morrow are both out for at least a week each. Good thing Lehts & Turgeon are both due back.
