Did you see Roddy try to catch that ball? Goofy Euro.

I repeat he's not a good defender. He can't stay in front of anyone and he just slaps at the ball

4 Time All Defensive Team player....Might should back down from the "not a good defender" bit.
Maybe he is overrated, but he is certainly at least a good defender.

Is that on DC or Carlisle now? With over 5 secs left you should advance it conservative, no?

I'd give the Celtics dirk's bad knee for Knee. Rondo is far from overrated.
What the hell was with that inbound play? Collison is the one good at hitting half court shots was is he the in bounder.

They would have fouled us again. We needed a catch and shoot 3.

I respect the heart the Mavs showed, but we really should've won that game. Mental mistakes, ridiculous turnovers and choking at the FT line was way too much to overcome. And a bunch of Bullshit calls didn't help our cause either.

What killed us were too many turnovers and I hate to say it, bad officiating. I mean how many times have we seen the Mavs go into the paint and get big bodied with no call, but the Celtics get a cake walk right down lane street with BS calls. I swear, it was a good game, but if we didn't turn over the ball too many times to say the least, we would've won that game a long time ago.

Turnover city. 16 turnovers between Collison and Mayo.

Fun game to watch. Careless mistakes ultimately cost us, but I still enjoyed it. Can't wait to see what we look like with Dirk back.

Bad officiating on both sides tonight. That ball was off Marion's foreman with Celtics nursing the lead with under 1 minute in regulation. Mayo should have got an and-1 that was called a charge. Jones definitely fouled Pierce on the shot before double OT

You would think the odds of missing the second on purpose and go for the offensive board are way higher in that case. Anyway. Shitty pass nonetheless.

Yeah because PP didnt get his five point play which they would have need without the Jet/DC and OJ/Mayo BS at beginning of the OT.
Thats Celtics arguing right now

This loss hurts less since the Big German was in a tan suit.
Celts had their full complement of Stars, Mavs don't have Dirk....and we still take them to the limit plus a couple overtimes? Ok, something positive can come from this.
No Kaman in the second half?

Very good effort without Dirk and without Kaman playing a full game.
Mayo had a ton of turnovers but keep in mind he played 52 freaking minutes. Dude was probably gassed. A lot of the turnovers were inexcusable though.

As evidence of the "refs being solid" you reference a botched call. I don't think you understand logic.

The Mavs lead 17sec in a game that went 58minutes. Careless mistakes and suspect free throw shooting have been the staple of this team for the last 21 games. I personally thought the game was over once Fisher fouled out.

Neither side deserved to win due to the execution but neither side deserved to lose either due to the effort.

exactly. I'm looking for heart out of this time while Dirk is out. And I saw tons of it tonight.
The stupid plays MUST lessen. That is up to RC to enforce.
And just don't EVER give the ball to Marion in the open court in the crunch...unless you are cool with stupid plays.

Refs ALWAYS make mistakes, they aren't robots you know ?. Being solid means, being "balanced" in that regard...

Markus (of all people...) suggested it above, but I think you could argue the half-court inbounds was actually the right call there. Cs were going to immediately foul, and the Mavs were probably going to try and pretend like they were shooting. You have a much more persuasive "I was in the act of shooting" claim if you're around halfcourt and not deep into your own backcourt.
The counterargument here, of course, is that we didn't necessarily need to be shooting. Make the first FT, miss the second one, see what happens....But I think this is why RC drew it up this way.

marion often grabs a rebound or makes a steal and then tries to play coast to coast hero ball. Teammates can't stop that. Rick should tell him to stop this point forward BS.

Agree on that part but in the end it'll come down to W and Ls and we missed out on some already. After Toronto we'll play a heavy schedule till new year and bottom line could be a 12-19 record going into 2013.

Why not have a big in bound the ball than?
I wish the Mavs had borrowed the play that the Houston Rockets used when Roddy had to foul Harden.

Too many stupid losses. Reminds me of our opponents in the last couple of years. When Kidd and co. forced turnovers and Dirk made clutch FT's....

I can't wait to see how Dirk looks with this group. I feel something special...
That said, turnovers. Geez. The two that stick out to me: Marion no-look (?!?) and that in-bound pass (to which Carlisle deserves some blame)
The guys showed a ton of heart and will to win. Fisher has an impact on this team that I did not expect when signing him. VC had a few huge moments.
Collison showed some good promise tonight. Was way more aggressive in that second half which also led to Mayo seeing some lanes open up.
I'm all over with this analysis so I'm gonna call it quits for the night. All in all I like that we took a fully healthy (and well rested) Celtics team to two OTs...

Well, to me, that's a somewhat distinct issue. But maybe he just didn't trust any of the bigs to make that pass, even despite Collison's turnover woes at times.

Also: I completely agree that there are mostly positives to take from this game. The Celtics aren't necessarily elite anymore, but they are a strong team, healthy, playing at home, and very well-rested. Taking them to 2OT without Dirk under those circumstances is pretty damn admirable.
