Good for him, i wouldn't have wanted the Mavs to pay him that much, especially for 4 years. He will be 34 when that deal ends, and he probably won't age well, he's not the most skillful guy at his position.

Could just be lamenting the breakup of the team, but it sure sounds like they've told him they won't be re-signing him.

Losing Howard would suck, but you know I'd loooove to have him.

What are the Mav's first round picks in 2014? Is it just the protected top 20 from the Lakers?

Ok, this is a good start.

Their chase for Dwight Howard over, the Mavs now begin pursuit of other free agents, including Warriors guard Jarrett Jack, source says.

If Jack is our plan b, then we will be overpaid and will underperform.
I have no doubts we have the potential to be a 5-8 team with a healthy Dirk but we are heading in a bad direction with Jarrett.

Jack is not a starter, but I think the FA pool offers only one real starter, Calderon, who wants to play with Howard or the Lakers. Teague/Jennings are RFA, so Jack sadly tops the current list for PGs.
Oh and I'd love Asik, lets just hope they don't deal him for Smith to Atlanta.

And who would you rather have as our starting pg? Mike James?
Players cost money people. Jack will probably cost you 7 mil a year. You either pay it or you don't have him. And you don't have Calderon, Ellis, or Jennings either for that matter.

And if you pay him he becomes an asset for later on so you might swing a trade.

Jeff Teague please. Restricted FA I know but we need a true pg. Jack is a combo 1/2. Teague is a legitimate nba pg. We need this guy.

I love Dirk but as currently assemble I see about 7 teams better than the Mavs and 4 in par with the Mavs with Jack or without it, but I agree with the bottom line

Forget short term guys like Jack. We will not be contenders the duration of Dirk's career unfortunately. We need to invest in young guys like Teague and build the team up through the draft. Sure you keep Dirk around to keep the fans happy and entertained but going all in with short term guys is asking for a decade plus of mediocrity. No thanks.

Apparently the only team in the league that got the memo of the new CBA was Cuban.

Jose would be a solid pickup. Long term PG to look at there.

Good PG. We certainly need a quick, defensive center now.

I really hope the 4th year isnt fully guaranteed. Considering his age and if Dirk just plays three more seasons i wanna tear it down...

4 yrs $29M fully guaranteed. A little overpaid for a 31 yr old, but I like it a lot. Hate to say it, but Bynum would fit great in this lineup.

Will he take 10 mil a year is the question, cause that's basically what we can offer

For you salary cap experts, can we pick up Monta and Bynum as well? Assuming we get rid of Marion
PG. Jose Calderon
SG. Monta Ellis
SF. Vince Carter
PF. Dirk Nowitzki
C. Andrew Bynum
Not a bad line up if they could stay healthy

I don't know why anyone would want Bynum when he is not even willing to workout for any team. That's such a huge red flag.

If we got rid of Marion, the two would have to come here for a combined $20 million-ish, which probably won't happen.
