Hi, maybe a silly question, but do you think Dirk is very intelligent?
I've been listening to many Dirk's radio interviews, especially those on "the ticket". I feel like Dirk is very witty, something not shown in post-game interviews which is mostly about basketball. Maybe it's partly because I'm not a native speaker so a lot of expressions are extra interesting and educational to me. So here I am, asking you guys, how intelligent do you think Dirk is. He's sweet and kind, that's for sure.

He is sweet and kind, sure, but his elbows are much too pointy. 5/10, would not haben geschlecht.

He's smart enough not to pay an agent 10% for something he can do himself...

I definitely think he is, albeit very subtle and hard to pick up on in radio interviews

He finished Gymnasium with the Abitur (only Abitur enables students to go to an university after 12-3 years being in school). And yeah, he actually deserved it like any other student because we dont have this crap for the athlets to reward them with easy classes etc just to pull them through as easy as possible.
So yeah, educational wise he is ALOT smarter than probably 90-95% of the other NBA player

I don't think he is uber intelligent, like very intellectual, but which professional athlete is? Athletes spend most of their time in the gym not in the library and when they get home I doubt many will read, like books. Being under the influence of Geschwindner, however, I think Dirk has been introduced too much more than sports-related stuff, and his willingness to work for so many years with a guy like that shows that Dirk is indeed intelligent. Will be very interesting to see what he will chose to do in a few years after his active days are over. Must be very difficult to find anything satisfying after having been successful in sports.

Actually the dirkster is an avid reader from what I understand. He stays in the gym, watches sports and reads. Obviously playing the sax, guitar and drums as well.
So I think although he is not university literate, I think he is quite intelligent. Extremely well read and various of hobbies.

It's true. I remember in one interview he talked about how he once got into reading and people all got him books for his birthday. Yeah, people can be intelligent although not well schooled, at least that's the kind of intelligence I'm talking about.

Intelligence can be difficult to quantify, but he does make a point to be pretty well-cultured... After all, he married an art curator - unlike most pro athletes who marry models or actresses.

If my memory serves me correctly, I remember Dirk's second season when he was asked what his favorite things in life were. He said Wendy's and Opera...so take that for what it's worth.

I couldn't care less if their hamburgers have beef or not. I go to Wendy's for one reason and one reason only- their spicy chicken sandwich. Now that's good eatin'.

Heh... But he was also engaged to a stripper I believe. So like I said, well rounded.

Anyone who has had as much success as Dirk has to have a relatively high BBIQ.
Many players have talent but don't know how to use it to their advantage...Dirk figured it out which takes a great deal of intelligence in my opinion.
Yes he is a gym rat and puts in the extra preparation effort but he has been smart enough to realize that is what it takes to be successful.

Strippers and Wendy's are what he used to be, not what he is... Dirk celebrated sweeping the Lakers with a slice of pizza, which means he probably hasn't touched any fast food for years.

I'd put him around a standard deviation and a half above the mean.

If you finish Gymnasium with the Abitur in Bavaria (german Texas), you are intelligent.

Well you have to realize he was drafted and flown to a totally new atmosphere. Where he transitioned himself to learning how to speak English. His parents raised him around sports. And obviously raised him to be respectful. He also didn't go to college. Technically he's one of the last to be drafted in the NBA out of high school.
