Mavs SL team also has Jameel Warney from Stony Brook. Not a tremendous athlete, but good scorer, rebounder, and shot blocker with a great basketball IQ.

@MikeAScotto: Dallas Mavericks have received a commitment from Perry Ellis (Kansas) for Summer League, per league source.
@_Isaac_Harris_: Dallas Mavericks to add Euroleague standout Darius Adams to Summer League team
Ellis is a PF and Adams is a PG.

Ellis is 22. I'm confused.
Really want to go to Vegas again to see a game or two. Haven't gone since Popeye was coaching Pavel. Two players who took up four seats on the bench.

My dry sarcasm. He just looks like he's super old.
The summer league is fun because you see current NBA players and coaches here and there walking around etc. The games are okay but we're just there to watch our guys.

Ellis seems like a Mavs-type of young player. His draft stock was low mostly due to his age (which I think is bullshit... I wish more players would stay in college longer but that trend isn't reversing itself anytime soon) but he's a pretty accomplished scorer. Seems to have legitimate three-point range and can play either the 4 or the 3. Definitely a candidate for buying extremely low and getting a real NBA player in return, but he probably isn't going to set the league on fire or anything.

Dallas Mavericks: A Few Summer League Names
Add BYU guard Kyle "Mr. Triple-Double" Collinsworth to the list.

Damn... he seems like a worthy guy for a Ndour type of contract though. Guarantee the first year and you can get any undrafted rookie.

As an avid Jayhawks fan I'd rather have Seldon than Ellis but Ellis is a great kid and could possibly make the roster. I wouldn't have high hopes for him though because he is the ultimate tweener. Way to slow to play SF and simply not big enough to play PF. He can shoot, is a very hard worker and seems to be a Carlisle kind of guy. He is crafty around the basket but not sure how effective he will be against much bigger players.
I'm glad he is on the summer league roster but I'd be very surprised if he makes the Mavs 15 man roster, and even if he does, he doesn't have a very high ceiling imo.

@bobbykaralla: The Mavs' first two Orlando games will be on TXA 21. All five will also air on NBA TV.

First year doing both Orlando and Las Vegas summer leagues. Looks like they will be different rosters, which makes sense because Anderson, Hammons, and all the guys who have agreed (Ellis, etc.) aren't on the Orlando roster.
Singh getting the B-team treatment. Still interested to see if he's even heading in the right direction.

These guys think so: 2016 Dallas Mavericks Orlando Summer League Roster Revealed
Quote:
It’s being said that Singh has improved over the last year, as he’s developed a good shooting touch, but the Mavericks are still working on his mobility and are concerned if he can keep up with an NBA paced game.

You thought the Summer Leagues were just fun and games. I'd bet $50 that at least four of our summer league guys make the roster

I have no idea what I'm looking at in Summer League -- the games are so chaotic from a lack of team chemistry, and so many guys try to chuck their way onto rosters... The eye test completely fails me in that context.

Singh just doesn't have NBA speed. He'd try to dribble or pull up to shoot but other guys just swatted it away while he was lumbering. Amazing how slowly he even went up into a shooting motion. 98% chance he never makes the NBA. 2% he makes it on the court for a few minutes, but it may be years.

Oh, I should have just quoted your second line because that's all I was responding to.
Singh is one of the few players who clearly fails the eye test -- he's way too slow for the NBA... Like if Monstar Shawn Bradley from Space Jam tried to play basketball after having a stroke.

The Orlando league is definitely a stinker. Only guy to watch is Singh, unless there is a player who sticks out for talent. So far that hasn't been the case.
They also played on the Orlando practice court in front of no one. Really sad event altogether. Really just a chance to see Singh-- and guess what-- he sucks.
Vegas will actually be w combination of our young guys (Hammons, Anderson) and guys who actually have a decent chance of making the roster.
