LMAOWUEE You trust JB Bickerstaff with your life?? The guy that just ran the Rockets into the ground and the Houston fans hate?
I know this day sucks for Mavs fans, but I'm so glad he is gone. Parsons just talks up a bunch of crap.

Bickerstaff joined Memphis at june 2nd. Wouldnt be surprised if they hired him pretty much just to get Parsons to Memphis...

Man, I hope Anderson is hungry to play against the model next season. Cause at least he brought us more in his rookie year than the model.

Parsons did so little in a Mavs uniform that when someone says "Chandler" I still think "Tyson" and not "Parsons."

Parsons didn't have the athleticism to take the next step IMO. Him trying to bulk up before his first season here really didn't help. And the injuries just compounded the problem. He went from a medium solid defender to a poor one after his first knee surgery.

Judging by last season losing Parsons may take us from out of the playoffs to the 7th seed. Good move, even if we don't sign anyone good. Wonder how well his male modeling will go over in Memphis.

I disagree. I think if Parsons would've taken a 4 year 60 million dollar deal they would've matched that. I don't fault them for not giving him that contract. But I think they are fooling themselves if they think they can get talent in here without overpaying tremendously.

It's really crazy the money being spent I mean average players are getting paid as much as some of the higher paid quarterbacks in the NFL and it's all guaranteed. Parsons would be amongst the highest paid players in the NFL right now if not the highest.

Go for it, I doubt he changes his mind at this point... Nothing wrong with a little catharsis.

Wasn't a big fan of his game and he thought he was a lot better than he was. Way too injury prone for me

You think NFL players are worth what they get paid? I certainly do not. There are 32 teams. Only 12 make the playoffs. Therefore there are 20 teams in which they play only 16 games. A lot of times the last game or two do not even matter because most of those 12 teams have already secured their playoff position. A quarterback on a 5-11 team is the highest paid player at over $22 million per season. That's over $5.4 million per win. I think it's stupid the amount of money these athletes are being paid.

One could argue that no professional athlete is even worth 1 million dollars, because it would still make them richer than doctors and teachers.

"Being the first big-name free agent to come here, I think that's special, and I want to be a trendsetter here," Parsons said Friday. "I'm going to work extremely hard to be the best basketball player I can be. But ... next summer you best believe I'm going to be with him (general manager Chris Wallace) recruiting more talent to Memphis."
|
So, Parsons spent two seasons in Dallas, spent no time for improving his game and now makes another wave of his empty promises. I like his recruiting talk though. Might ruin Memphis' next offseason. Had he been less vocal last summer, DeAndra would have chosen Clippers sooner and Mavs would have had time to do decent shopping.
I honestly can not picture him in Grizzlies' offense. Only by stats he fits the needs Memphis have. Their offense is probably going to be really slow this upcoming season. They will also have a nice run at trying to keep their roster healthy.
I am glad that Memphis and Dallas are in same division. These games are going to be good.

Pretty much sums up what most of us hated about Parsons. His mouth is bigger than his game. Barnes demeanor >>>>>

Parsons is lucky to be out of this horrible city. I am ashamed of it right now. I work with a guy who went to school with the Dallas shooter and was proud of what his former classmate did. He actually had the tenacity to say he just wished that he had killed more than 5 cops. I don't want to speak to this prick again.

Are we really going to nitpick everything he says/does now that he isn't a Maverick? We all know what he does and doesn't do well. Time to move on.

What does he do well? I am curious. I don't follow his modeling career.

It is hard to be bitter when I have always been criticizing his seemingly lack of work ethic and effort during his tenure with the Mavs. I was for trading Parsons before the trade deadline. Looking back, I think Mavs were correct not to trade him, although you can not accurately assume what would have been offered.
It would be puzzling to me if he actually would improve his game because it would beg a question why he did not while in Dallas. I also wanted to put it out there that had he not been such a vocal recruiter, Mavs perhaps would have had better offseason last summer.

Depending on how they use him he could put up some good offensive stats. Maybe with their grit and grind mentality they can get him to actually defend and rebound but who knows. Of course the more physical he plays the more strain it will put on that knee of his.
As far as his strength tho, as I said several times he should have had the ball in his hands more to me, only Kawi and Durant are higher than Parsons as a pnr Ball handler at the 3 spot with at least 150 possessions(And Considering Parsons played some 4 maybe only Durant is higher then). Butler and Barton are also higher but they played almost entirely at the 2. So if the Grizz plan to use him as a ball handler in a pnr heavy offense he could put up some nice numbers, it remains to be seen whether that will translate to wins though. But if he stays healthy and if the overall team defense/rebounding negates his weaknesses he could be a very good fit for them.

Going to place this here and bump it next offseason: Zach Randolph is a free agent next year. Blake griffin is a free agent next year. Chandler parsons is in Memphis and they'll need a new pf.

I think by default Parsons is the biggest name to chose Memphis in free agency, Randolph and Gasol were traded there and Conley was drafted. Can't think of anyone great that joined them in free agency.

And this is why Barnes is a Maverick...
Phillip Dean @PhillipDean1
"I'm not gonna put a timetable on it." - Chris Wallace on whether Chandler Parsons will be available on Opening Night.

"He's progressing," Wallace said. "He had a good offseason. I just saw him in the weight room doing some things. He's back on a limited basis now; not totally fully cleared but has been progressing well." Wallace added that it's still unclear if Parsons will be ready for opening night. The versatile forward will be limited to non-contact drills early in camp, and he will continue to be reevaluated on a weekly basis.

Back in March...

Mavs team physician Daniel Worrel performed the arthroscopic procedure in Dallas. Parsons will miss the remainder of the season but is expected to go through his normal offseason basketball workout routine.

Call me crazy... but being limited when training camp starts, and not being cleared probably means he did not go through "normal offseason workout routines". Since medial repair surgery has been brought up recently with Adrian Peterson in the news I had done some looking and saw that most of the time it's 3 months of recovery and then 1-2 months(I feel like I'm being generous it really reads like 1 month) to get it to full strength(Like BG32, Bledsoe, and CP3 I had read about). Well it's now been 6 months for Parsons and he hasn't been cleared?!?!?! At first I just figured they were taking a very cautious approach but now I'm not so sure. To not be fully cleared 6 months after sounds like the Mavs may have been onto something with their hesitation towards faith in that knee after 2 consecutive surgeries.
