GDT 43 - Jazz (27-16) at Mavs (14-27) 7:30 FSSW
No time to rest. Mavs head back home to take on the defensively stalwart Jazz.
I hope we win? Lose? I don't even know any more
Injuries
Bogut - POS - until trade deadline or until he's bought out

Easy win (loss) and hopefully a new found understanding for management... The time is now to build for the future.

Would be absolutely shocked if the Mavs win...easy loss. Jazz 6 point favorites.
Just for those that are worrying we'll screw our draft pick. This is the easiest stretch of the season so far. And the Mavs are .500 with healthy bodies.

The Jazz Otters are the top defensive team in the NBA, allowing opponents to around 95 ppg... no problem, the Mavs will score a hundred tonight and win....
Mavs - 100
Jazz Otters - 94

Forgot Mavs have a back to back. Wow they could have set themselves up on a 5 game win streak. Still not bad to try to get to .500

This will be an easier loss than I thought. Mavs wont hit 20 in the 1st quarter.

Damn this team sucks...I think top 6 is still a strong possibility. They need to stop kidding themselves about an 8 seed

What a great signing Curry has been. I'm on team tank, but it's fun to watch the young guys play well.

Turned it early in the 3rd...looks like these old heads want to keep playing. Someone has to step up and knock down a couple quick shots to take this thing.

So Gobert has 27pts in 41mins while Mejri only plays 12 mins.
I know we took them to OT but something doesn't sound right with those stats considering Bogut wasn't playing.
Obviously Dirk and Powell are not the answers to stopping centers like Gobert and Dirk only having 3pts really makes me wonder what is going on.
Rick is one of the best coaches in history imo but sometimes I just don't understand his logic unless Mejri was injured, sick, in foul trouble or is about to be traded.

One way out of it would be cheering after every made basket, no matter which team scores.

Hurt, doghouse or what?

I know Utah is a good team but Miami isn't so if we can't beat the bottom tier teams I'd rather lose with guys like Anderson playing 20mins with only 5 pts than with old vets like DWill playing close to 30 mins scoring 20.
Even if Anderson consistently sucks averaging 20 mins per gm at least we know his status going forward. Now we'll go into next season with a big question mark by his name again.
Love Rick but he doesn't know any better than to win each individual game at all cost. He gets paid for short-term tactical thinking so I guess I can't blame him.
Cuban should consider hiring Larry Brown as an assistant for player development and as a consultant to Rick on that aspect of coaching. At this point it isn't about winning so much as it is about developing....a very new concept for RC and Cuban.

Pretty sure Salah got the doghouse treatment tonight. We had momentum going and he committed a flagrant foul, then a 3sec call on defense. It resulted in a 5point possession for Utah and he didn't seem to get a lot of burn after that.

I want Dirk to be happy for his final years, and he is happy "competing" but man.... getting the 8th seed with a 35win team, at best, and getting drilled by 30 a game to the Warriors... How in the world is that going to be fun? It won't be acknowledged that he was on a competitive team, it will be widely accepted we got in the playoffs for the sole reason of the West being THAT pathetic after the top 7. So idk how that's going to be fun. Idk how it's helpful to pitch to players since it's not any kind of achievement. And it's entirely possible that it could be quite embarrassing for the team, especially Dirk and Barnes, to be hammered by the Warriors for the world to see. I'd mention Curry but I think he's used to being crapped on by his brother. It won't be embarrassing for Bogut tho, since he doesn't give a shit. If he's still on this team by then I fully expect him to just sit behind the Warriors bench in a suit cheering them on.

I guess the real question is whether Dirk is going to play another season or not. I really can't see Dirk giving it another go. The team likely won't be much better next season, and he'll be another year older.
And I'm not sure why anyone is afraid of winning 35 games. There is pretty much 0 evidence that they can win that many.

I think Dirk comes back another year. He has said before he wants to play 20 seasons and now that he is back healthy and being productive (except last night) I think he comes back for one more season. I don't think Dirk wants to bow out on a 35 win team.

I think I'm more worried that they think they can win 35 and it would be enough to make the playoffs.
Coming in a close second would be that I'm afraid the west is so bad at the bottom that teams may lose to us enough to get us up to 35. So not afraid we can win 35 as much as others to lose enough to make us get there by default... if that makes sense.
Also can we just not play Dirk or the older vets on b2b's? JJ being hurt helps us lose but I don't think any of us want them to get injured trying to make up ground to the playoffs. Dirk looked like he was stuck in even more mud than usual last night and to the surprise of nobody we had an injury occur. Just rest the older vets on b2b's. Can't believe in a b2b game with this roster that Simba got 2 mins and DFS got 14. I'm 100% positive if Dirk had any kind of rhythm he would have played over 30mins.

@espn_macmahon: Dirk Nowitzki's 1-of-13 outing in Friday's loss to the Jazz could be considered the worst shooting performance of his career. It's the most field goal attempts he's ever had in a game in which he scored only one bucket. "Well, we were on a back-to- back," said Nowitzki, who managed to match his season high with 10 rebounds. "I'm fighting my way back still from injury. I'm just not where it's at right now, but I battled." Nowitzki, 38, who was sidelined for most of the first two months of the season by a strained right Achilles tendon, played full games in a back-to-back for the first time this season.

I think he comes back one more season too.
He mentioned on a local morning news show (KDFW Fox 4 Good Day) a while back that 40 sounded like a good number when he was asked how long he would play.
He'll turn 40 June 19 of 2018 so that indicates to me that he'll go another year which is probably good for him.
My guess is that he'll announce in the off-season that next season will be his last and will get recognized by all the teams/cities on the road. I hope he does because if anyone deserves that type of respect it is Dirk. I think it is safe to say that most teams' fans have enormous respect for Dirk and the person and player that he is and his accomplishments in this league.
