Per @MavsPR, J.J. Barea (rest) is not with the @dallassmavs in Phoenix. Harrison Barnes (rest) & Seth Curry (left shoulder injury) are out.

That fast break pass by Brussino to Powell just now was NICE. AND Powell was able to finish the and 1.
Brussino follows up with a 3.

Powell looking pretty good with the scrubs -- he actually made Carlisle smile with that trailing three.

Powell with a career-high 21 points, Uthoff with a career-high 12 points, Mavs secure the loss.

I could see Powell blossoming on another team if he keeps working. He LOOKED comfortable out there being aggressive with the jumper and driving from the 3 point line. Good kid I hope to see him successful

Dude has only played 52 minutes all season at PG. let's calm down on the idea that he's our starting PG. Even Cuban says we need a lead guard.

Yogi has been our starting point guard ever since Deron left... Curry is our starting shooting guard.

It would be great to actually have PG sized PG and SG sized SG and SF sized SF on the floor at the same time. I really get beat down with triple PG sets.

1) That's kinda false. We won our championship with 6'1" Terry playing SG. Three PGs is bad, but two smaller guards isn't too bad. It's also rare for guys to really take advantage of the height of players-- even at center. The league has become a jump shooting league and lateral speed is more important than height.
2) It's incredibly rare and hard to find a PG who is above 6'2". In the draft there is one. Ball is not going to be available at 9-10 and he has baggage. Fultz is close, but again, he won't be available. In free agency, there is also only one-- Livingston. He's not only not a reliable starting guard, he's also 31 years old. Do we really want to stack the roster with 30-somethings?

Sorry, got to disagree. We won our 'ship with a starting five of Kidd, Stevenson, Marion, Dirk, and Chandler. That's arguably 4 elite defenders at their positions. True, Terry did often finish games with Kidd, but Kidd was 6'3", 200+ plus pounds, and arguably a better defender at the 2 than the 1. I definitely agree size shouldn't be our biggest concern, but it is a concern.
Playing two smaller guards can be killer, and teams avoid it as much as possible. In fact, from what I can see, only one playoff teams starts two guards under 6'4": Portland.

Don't forget that not really 6 foot Barea started at SG the last three games of the finals...all wins.
Honestly, what anchored the Mavs for a while was Shawn Marion. He enabled Rick to do what he wanted lineup wise. Without a guy like him, the Mavs are always going to have trouble with smaller lineups. The rebounding is our death knell.
That's why I wouldn't hate it if we drafted a SF who can rebound.

Yeah, Marion defended everything from SG to PF. Heck, he even matched up on centers for a possession or two, just to mix it up. Dude's talents are incredibly underrated. His rebounding rate was higher than all but 9 centers that year. Just a pogo stick and his defense was incredible. We don't really value rebounding from SFs and defense is always underrated, but Marion was one of those top-25 players of all time in defense/rebounding.

Constantly snubbed for all defensive team(prolly because he played for Phx, then us), rebounded extremely well for a 3 and small 4. If he had been in a slower paced offence like the Grizz I think he would have gotten more credit as a defender prolly. He's super underrated even for a guy who I think is going to be in the hall eventually, but prolly take a few times. The guy deserved to make one freaking all defensive team ffs.
