Even if he took less, Hornets are still in cap hell and would only have the MLE.

If I'm not mistaken, Jonas opted out of a contract for 17 mil. I doubt he takes a contract less than that from anyone.

Exactly. This story will evolve before July 1. If he wants to stay home, make a few all starts, maybe see first round of playoffs, then he will resign. There is no scenario where they compete for a title in the next 4 years.

I think Kemba is going to end up in New York after they lose Kyrie to Brooklyn. Kemba going home to New York would make sense.

Still makes the Mavs a slow ass team. We need athleticism on the wing. Id absolutely want him if we didnt already have KP. Sharpshooters dont grow on trees.

Yes, I just thought that too. The length of the contract is the critical piece.
And the post by melonhead above is probably accurate. Small-ball teams like Golden State this year would run us to death with those two bigs on the court at the same time.

Veteran leadership as high character guy, we dont have to run Luka into the ground, they are able to play off each other in the 16-18min they are together on the court.
Im still team Kemba. I like his loyalty to Charlotte but that franchise is going nowhere the next few years. Jordan just sucks and they suck worse in drafting than we pre-Luka.
And Kemba isnt going to the Knicks, last thing he wants is a chaotic crap franchise

No surprise, he is never going to see this money again at his age.
Could be an option for a simple Lee-Dragic switch, if the Heat decide to move on from him

Oklahoma City made the Finals. I'd be ok with that too. People said Raptors shouldn't trade for Leonard because he would be a one year rental and one year rentals don't go on to make it to the Final. People try to use history to dictate the future and I Just don't agree with it.

Klay Thompson tore his ACL as well. Man. Warriors have to punt next year.

Klay and Durant’s injuries change a lot this summer. They won’t be the same team next season even if both are retained. Now is the time to get as good as you can as quickly as you can.

Yepp...Houston a mess and Harden also reaching 30. Westbrick strongly declining and Thunder in cap hell. Lakers maybe striking Out with AD and in the FA. Clippers maybe striking out too.

I can't imagine that they'll max out TWO players who probably won't see the floor before next year's All-Star break (if at all)... If Toronto proved anything, it's that every season counts when you're a contender. GSW can't afford to punt next season if it means burning 1/4 of both Klay's and KD's max contracts while paying luxury (and repeaters) tax -- especially when there's a likelihood that Durant never gets back to 100%. The risk of effectively closing their window while Curry/Klay/Dray are still in their prime is too high if they take this route, even more so when you consider the price tag... I think they let KD walk.

Even if AD ends up going to the Lakers for Ingram, Kuzma, and the 4th pick, the West is looking wide open for the first time in years.

I'm all-in on a Kemba signing and going for it hard the next two years. I'm not sure how you round out the rebounding front, but the West is going to be wide open even when Durant and Klay are getting healthy into 2020-2021.
I'm also pumped after seeing the Kristaps All-Star reserve highlights again lol

And there are rumours that Kawhi stays on a short deal in Toronto to run it back one or two times...
Lillard probably asking for it and signing the supermax also kills pretty any chance of improving the Blazers.

I think he’s 1-2 years away from being a 10 year vet that gets him a huge payday. I’d expect him back in Toronto next year.

Windhorst (yes i know) reporting the Warriors plan to offer both guys five year contracts.
The new arena is endless money printing (15$ for a hotdog), so i think they are running this group several more years until they are all 33+

You have arguably the best player in the league (Durant) and a core piece of the team that is one of the goat shooters, why would you let either of them walk? I dont understand that mindset. 80% Durant is still better than most the league. And they dont get those last two titles without him. Its billionaires money moving to a new stadium. Theyll do whats necessary to keep both.

The obvious: Klay is staying:
And i really think with the injury Durant stays too. Now he has also a great excuse (they lost, unfinished business blabla). Better than rehabbing with a trashy Knicks franchise

I’m not sure the Warriors make the playoffs with just a healthy Curry. And 80% KD? Has any player with this injury come back 80%? They certainly never look the same again.
I actually think this improves our chances of landing someone like Walker because the West is wide open next season.

Warriors letting Durant or Thompson walk would be black hole stupid. They’ll be not great next year, but with both of them, that’s another 3 or 4 years of being title favorites. The luck will change and they’ll come across buy out vets who want to win, just didn’t happen this time.

You say it like it’s their choice. Both players are UFA and can go where they please. I full expect Thompson to be back, but KD could be looking to show that he can lead his own team to a title. I’m hopeful KD leaves.

Why would you assume that he comes back 80% from an achilles injury? Wes Mathews recovered pretty quickly and came back at maybe 60% of what he used to be (especially on the defensive end)... Boogie looks similar -- he can still score, but his lateral motion is kaput... Rudy Gay, like KD, was in his 12th season when he got injured and also came back at about 60%... Elton Brand was the same age as KD and his game completely fell off a cliff... Patrick Ewing and Kobe Bryant became shells of their former selves... And Isiah Thomas, Chauncy Billups, Anderson Varejao, Brandon Jennings, Mehmet Okur, and Voshon Lenard were all forced into retirement by their achilles injuries... The ONLY success story is Dominique Wilkins.
And just to be clear -- 60% Kevin Durant isn't anywhere near a max player.

Which is why I’d be jumping for joy if he stayed with GS. He will never be the same player. Wes iron manned his ass back to health, and it wasn’t enough. And what happens when you’re physically limited? The mind takes over thinking you still got it. All downhill from there...

Cause his game isn’t completely built off athleticism and he doesn’t carry weight like the centers you mention. Also because he’s better than all of the players you mentioned. He’s getting max wherever he decides to go, but I think he rehabs in GS

Seems Kawhi would sign a super-max deal and then ask for a trade after a few years if he is ready to move on or if things begin to go in a different direction for the Raptors.
He could put in a no-trade clause and I'm sure either the Lakers or Clippers would offer something pretty enticing for the Raptors if that is where he'd want to go.
After watching Klay and KD go down, I can't understand why any player offered a super-max deal wouldn't take it.

AD to Lakers for Lonzo, Ingram, Hart and 3 first rounders (including #4). Incredible trade for New Orleans.

Sucessfully destroyed his trade value in any other trade scenario (Knicks, Celtics).
Lonzo is trash (you can just sign Rubio) and Ingram has the bloodclot issue.
Well, the next injury is coming for Mr. Glassman

Lakers will have $28 or $32 million to spend if AD waives a trade bonus.
