I'm wondering what everyone's greatest hope/ideal acquisitions are for free agency.
For me, I'd rather have both Randle AND Brogdon if at all possible than any one person or pairing. Seems like this could be possible if they stretch waved or traded Courtney Lee. Give Brogdon an $18-20mil offer sheet, give Randle the rest.
If not those two, then Randle AND Beverly.
And if not those, Brogdon + starter rebounding help. Or Randle + a starter 3&D guard (D. Green)
Doncic/Brunson/JJB
Brogdon/Hardaway Jr.
Jackson/DFS
Porzingis/Kleber
Randle/Powell/Mejri
would be awesome.

I'm warming up on Randle.
Not exactly a perfect fit in a flow offense but I love his energy and athleticism and we desperately need some strength in our front court.
The motor will be running hot for 48 minutes in the paint with him and/or Powell in the game at all times. He's also an explosive player that would be fun to watch, especially playing with Luka who will make him an even much better player on offense. His age fits well with our core too.
I was originally more of a Vuc advocate but Randle could bring a lot more and could evolve into that 3rd lethal piece that we need. He also provides some insurance in our frontcourt if KP goes down and as others have mentioned will take most of the brunt from the bulkier opposing bigs.

Randle would be great if we didn’t have KP. Since we do, give me Dewayne Dedmon instead.

And extending Powell means splurging on a big man is unlikely. You'd have way too much money tied up on the front court.

Then the problem remains having 10M+ on Powell. Him + KP makes too much money tied on low-rebounding frontcourt.

Beginning to think the hype around Beverly is too big already. Not that the Mavs won't try to get him, but probably not A+ priority. Would also make sense since meeting with all those teams (Twitter said 5) will take some time.

Both have upsides they could bring.

I would be happy with Brogdon and Vucevic or Randle if we can’t get Vuc.
Brunson
Brogdon
Luka
KP
Vuc/ Randle
Would be almost unstoppable offensively. There would be some questions on D but if KP and the other big guy can get some blocked and rebounds, I think the guards can do a pretty good job up top. You could obviously switch THJ in in for one of the other guards, but this lineup is not bad at all especially with Warriors developments.

It would be literally impossible to sign Brogdon and another player.

Brogdon and Vuce are going for a combined 40-45m this offseason....not a chance to add both
Even Brogdon and Randle are way over our 32m...

For sure there is no way we can do Brogdon + Randle
Even Brogdon and Dedmon are over 32m.
Probably even Bogdanovic and Dedmon.
But honestly is it worth chasing Brogdon ? Seems unlikely that Bucks let him go. We should focus on UFA.

I think with Klay and KD injuries and AD trade to LA, our options actually have become limited. The only guy that we have a good chance of getting and is worth chasing is Brogdon. IMO he fits a need and Luka/ KP / Brunson timeline.
I am assuming in the case that we go after 2 of the bigger players that Powell wouldn't be back, has he officially extended? I know there still may not be enough money for two but in that case I go for Brogdon and another good rebounding big man. Maybe a few shooters to go around them and go with that team.
Are we able to structure the contracts (especially Brogdons) to force the bucks into a very tough decision because he will be getting a lot in a few years when they have to sign Greek Freak.

Fantastic Article that summarizes why Dewayne Dedmon should be one of our top targets.
Dedmon is a two-way player who can stretch the floor and is accustomed to being in a high-paced offense. Between Luka, KP, and Hardaway Jr. we have enough scoring on the team, and need to fill out our roster with guys that complement those three. Dedmon will be a boost to our defense and our spacing. I'm all in on:
Beverly - Brunson - JJB
THJ - ??? - Harris
Luka - Jackson - DFS
KP - Maxi - Kostas
Dedmon - Powell - Salah

Barnes declining his option. Wow...
So how much cap space would we have had we not made that trade? Just curious...

Adrian Wojnarowski
@wojespn
Sacramento Kings forward Harrison Barnes is declining his $25.1M player option and becoming an unrestricted free agent, his agent, Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports, tells ESPN. Barnes, 27, and Kings are open to exploring a new deal together this summer, sources said.

We only took back Justin Jackson's contract in that trade -- the rest went into our trade exception... So we're only looking at a $3.2m difference.
I think Jackson is well-worth the money, plus we didn't risk Barnes opting-in.
EDIT: also, I'd like to throw a big "TOLD YOU SO" in everybody's face, since I saw this opt-out coming two years ago and people told me there was no way he'd walk away from $25m to pursue a long-term contract... Years matter when contracts are guaranteed and career-ending injuries are always lurking around the corner.

Outside of Kawhi and KD there really are not many wings out there that are attractive enough to move the needle(and imo Wings who are versatile and can shoot 3's are invaluable). If a team is giving Tobias the max I don't think 4/80 is out of the realm at all for Barnes givin the amount of money teams have to spend. I think at worst he resigns with Kings for 4/80 and it lowers their cap hit this year and frees up 7m or so this year for them. At best the NBA still has the Knicks out there to give atrocious max contracts to guys like Barnes.

Yeah but i was all for that the FO not even takes a chance.
One major injury after the ASG and he is opting in...

Oh, absolutely -- I'm glad we let another team take that risk.

Yeah, the Knicks are going to overpay for whatever they can get once all the big name FAs sign elsewhere... Their hands are tied, they have to land SOMEONE after trading away Porzingis and whiffing on Zion.

We'd have to detective my posting, but I'm pretty sure I agreed with you about that. I can't imagine him getting that sound amount per year, but it is Sacramento so...

That also means that the Kings have some massive cap space, and they should be quite attractive given the young core they have.

Umm yea. He's not the iso scoring threat that Randle or Vuc is but he is wayyy cheaper and wouldn't come close to stopping the ball offensively. Tyson Chandler-ish with a 3pt shot perhaps.
Forget Beverley, with Brunson here and Powell re-signing, the MBT aren't going to reach into the $$ range he will be wanting.

It sounds like Dedman may need a 3 or 4-year contract to be lured away.
That said, he brings a lot to the table. Inside-Outside game, speed, can guard either C or PF position, decent rebounder, veteran of 6 different teams, and just turns 30 in August.
He's not someone who has offensive firepower management might be looking for, but if you put a strong shooting wing in the lineup, he'd flourish I think.

Dwight Powell today officially opted into the final year of his Mavericks contract, league sources say. Dallas has stated repeatedly that it hopes to sign Powell to an extension in July

You mean Bogdanovic 😄?
Honestly for me, in the win now perspective, this would be the best scenario.
But we might need to stretch lee to make it happen.

Al Horford, after opting out and being assumed to making a new deal with Boston, is now likely leaving and looking for other suitors.

I wonder what kind of deal he's looking for? If we could get him on a shorter contract, he'd be an excellent veteran presence who does everything we need at the center position.

I would guess he either wants multiple years to retire off the deal or he’s wanting a ring, which probably puts us on the outside looking in on both. We’ll probably know soon though

Mavs offer Harrison Barnes and Wes Matthews our available cap this summer... Who says no? And what's the body count?

The tweet I read, said he was looking for 4 years. He is an interesting fit with KP that I had not thought about.

Well, I'm probably out then...
@TheSteinLine: The belief making the front-office rounds tonight is that Al Horford already knows there’s a four-year contract worth in excess of $100 million waiting out there for him June 30 .. knowledge that led to Horford’s talks with the Celtics dissolving

Horford is great but those last two seasons could look really bad, he's been dinged up a lot lately. Isn't he like 33 already?

He's 33, and if you're Horford, are you really looking at the Mavs? If you want a ring and the window of time is short, I can think of other teams who have had established winning seasons and have cap money.
It's possible he gets that 20-25 million a year (I doubt that), but I would think the Nets look more promising as a suitor.
