Glad summer league starts tomorrow even though Roby is the only guy who will have a spot and even that looks like it will be a two-way

That's coming from Mike Fisher just so we're clear, but there are plenty of players that can fit in that time frame so it doesn't really change much. You can just cross Andrew Wiggins off your wish list.

Chris Broussard: Kawhi Update: Raptors had strong meeting yesterday. Drake heavily involved. Talked of having Kawhi involved w/his OVO record label. Kawhi in deep soul searching. Wants Lakers but wants to make sure Big 3 will fit/work. Clippers out. It’s btwn Lakers & Raptors. Very close.
You know something ain't right when Drake is considered the prime mover .

I actually don't care if Kawhi goes to LA. The league wants super teams, and thus, there will be them. Heat, GSW, Lakers...it's going to be some lucky franchise that has it no matter the circumstance. F 'em.

It won't really matter against our realistic timeline. The Lakers will be done by the time Luka is fully in his prime

I really didn’t think Kawhi was the kinda guy that would team up with 2 top 10 players to form a super team. I hope I’m right.

Kawhi and ad are 26. Even when Lebron ages out that's the best defensive wing and the best defensive mobile big in the league who are also elite offensive players

It’s understandable. Probably ahead of it’s time. Rappers wish they were basketball players and basketball players wish they were rappers.

Yeah I think Kawhi is 28 but yeah they are young enough to not try and wait for their prime to be over. You wait until their prime is over you’ve wasted too much time.

Amazing how many Mavs fans (not on here, but around the multiverse) that still don't get the Green situation. He is either teaming up with Kawhi in Toronto or joining the Lakers. It would be shocking if he chose the Mavs at this point.

How is he going to join the Lakers? With the room MLE? If the Clippers are truly out, he either joins Kawhi in Toronto, or comes to the Mavs IMO. Either way he needs to man up and make a decision for himself. Like it’s seriously embarrassing for this grown man to be leaving millions on the table while he waits for another grown man’s decision. Whether he comes or he doesn’t I’m fine either way. He’s one of the streakiest players I’ve ever seen in my life and he’s 32.

@townbrad Certainly not what Mavs fans want to hear, but if Danny Green falls through I believe there's a decent chance Mavs stand pat. Marcus Morris, a 4/3, makes little sense. Neither does 35-year-old Iggy. Barring a roster-rattling trade, Mavs at best look like a fringe playoff team.

If there is one thing I learn every single offseason it's that well-managed teams find a way to clear space or get players they want. And if he gets to play with Lebron and AD, then yeah, I could see him taking a discount.

I honestly can't see why we wouldn't be more interested in Morris. He would be a great addition imo

If Kawhi chooses Toronto or the Clippers the presumption is that the Lakers fork over more cash to bring in Green and some other spare parts. Kawhi picking the Lakers would probably torpedo that scenario and make the Mavericks the favourite to grab him. In other words, I think Green is out of Toronto and he and his agent are hoping for a Mavs-Lakers bidding war.

If no Green at least talk to the Heat again about Dragic. We initially didn't want the deal to remain flexible, which is no longer an issue. Heat however got what they wanted and you certainly have to give them something now.

I don't see them doing it now after all that happened. Also do they even have another PG on the roster?

I've actually grown more and more fond of Bradley over Green. Not the same three point shooter, but he is a good defender, better ball handler, and can handle the point when needed. I know a few years back this board was killing themselves at a chance at Bradley. Griz might waive him anyway. July 8 is the key date for that.

I prefer Bradley to green. Green is weird because of how streaky he is as a shooter. Also I'm sure Bradley isn't the defender he was but he can guard the quicker pgs much better than green

Delon Wright for me. He's on an upward trajectory compared to Green and Bradley, and shows up as the better defender on advanced stats.

Definitely shaping up to be a failed free agency period. That doesn’t mean I don’t like the team... just didn’t cash in on huge cap space.. or, not looking like it.

I still think Green is going Mavs or Raptors. He's only waiting on Kawhi to have a chance at defending title. I said before he did an interview 2 weeks or so ago and he said he's not a bright spotlight of LA guy. He said he's not going to follow Kawhi but that he will see if Kawhi will come back to the Raptors. I like Green, he's a high character guy based off everything I've seen and heard over the last several years.

Exactly. And this is what I mean on the previous page when I said I've seen this story before. You kind of get the idea how this offseason will play out. Initially I was told the Lakers have only 24 million to spend....they went and got what they needed. Warriors went and traded who they needed. This is the new NBA. I'm not sure if the Mavs have caught up yet in that regard.

If you think Green is streaky(which he is) wait until you get a chance to see Bradley. He's even worse in that department.

4th of July at 5:45 PM
JD Shaw: Danny Green mentions the Clippers, Lakers and Mavericks as other potential free-agent destinations besides the Raptors. “I’ve known Mark Cuban and Rick Carlisle for a long time,” he said on @GreenRoomInside. “They have a really good interest in me, and they’re showing it.”

League source says Mavs have increased their interest in Memphis restricted free agent point guard Delon Wright, plan to give offer sheet, if they haven’t already. Would not affect Green pursuit.

Just got this as well. I would have liked to see a better 3-point shooter, but it's not like he's going for starter minutes. We have to have another PG since Barea's injury is still a big question mark and he is athletic if nothing else. He brings defense, and that can't be a bad thing on this team.
Since he's an RFA, any offer can be countered by Memphis within 48 hours.

Good. He has nice court awareness/vision and size. He played real well from March on last season including a few outstanding games.

Grizz are almost at lux tax line. About 5m away. Offer for Wright could force Grizz to cut AB to make room for wright or just let us have Wright. AB is only guaranteed 2m and according to spotrac they have until july 8th to cut him otherwise his full salary is guaranteed. Dillon Brooks salary is guaranteed tomorrow according to spotrac. I guess this makes them make a decision on who to buyout who to cut etc. Especially If they still plan to trade Iggy.

My brother liked Ben and Skin... I told him to pay attention to how badly they kissed the tears of pro athletes to try and get in good with them and be buddy buddy... about a week later, he told me that he couldn’t listen to them anymore because it was too sickening how they sucked up. And Skin is terrible on the Mavs broadcasts.. just absolutely horrible.

And that's exactly why I can't stand them. I didn't know there were was a market for kiss asses in radio. Usually the successful ones troll listeners and have hot takes. These guys........I just can't. And what shocks me is how long they've been in the DFW area. Its just a terrible listen to hear guys just want to suck up and be best friends with Dirk or Dallas local players. As a matter of fact.....the only people I can really listen to is Norm's show in the morning and Bob Sturm.
