Thank you. He would be fighting for minutes as well, and probably isnt interested in that.

Yeah Im legit excited to watch their team grow. Say whatever you want about CP3 but he makes teams better wherever he goes. I expect them to break out with Ayton, Booker, Crowder.

Agreed. Not really seeing the interest in him at 10 million a year.

Hornets just waived Nic Batum and his ridiculous $27M contract in order to make room for Hayward. Mavs have plenty of depth at SF/SG now, but it would not surprise me to see life breathed back into his career when he finds a new home somewhere in the league. He had a weird role (also several injuries) in Charlotte and the guy literally stopped shooting the ball. He sort of played facilitator on offense and often times was given the assignment to guard the opponents top offensive threat. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Spurs pick him up.

Wow I wonder for what price......I’d give them anything they wanted outside of Luka. Probably KP too.

I doubt we have what it takes, but that would be a perfect PF for us.

Because he opted out of $34m
Usually players don't do that unless they have an understanding that they will get AT LEAST one and a half times the guaranteed money within 2 years
34+17=51 which is $25m a year. But I thought it would be 3 plus a team option. Nope - FULLY GUARANTEED!

He wants a max contract. Now!
And the Hawks are pissed at him for getting suspended for 25 games for growth hormones - which killed any chances of them making the playoffs last year
He's very close to perfect. Not quite the defender I'd like but a dominant roll man. His 3 point percentage is very good but its all catch and shoot, he can't take a dribble and make it consistently. Nothing I mentioned would matter AT ALL if we somehow acquired him

I could be wrong, but I'm honestly expecting THJ to get traded sometime this season before the deadline.

Been thinking about this. As long as The Burke deal hasn’t been announced couldn’t his 3year deal be slotted into the BAE which would mean we still have the Full MLE. Slim chances but thinking it’s cap mathematics that could still cleverly work.

It's very possible. And, he's not the only usefully sized expiring contract, either.
The Mavs managed to get bigger, better, younger, more athletic AND increase their roster flexibility. It's really a good run they're on these days, imo.

BAE can only be used every other year. I think Boban got it last off-season.
Seems like the plan was to use the MLE on Burke, Terry and maybe one deep bench big. I'm still hoping for WCS, myself.

Well shoot.. would’ve been a shrewd move. Gotta hope the market drying and being a playoff team is a draw now.

100% agree. I think they've absolutely crushed this offseason. All we need now is to bring back WCS or get another 4/5.
For people worried that the Mavs are just holding back and crossing their fingers for Giannis, I see quite the opposite. They've accumulated assets. They're in a FAR better position to make a big trade than they were just a few days ago. We've heard for weeks now how the Mavs are aggressively pursuing a "third star." I don't think they're waiting for 2021 free agency at all. I think they're gearing up to trade for one. Which is absolutely the right move. And if the right trade opportunity doesn't present itself, they've still freed up more cap space which they can then use next season.
Really, other than trading for Luka, I think this is the best offseason the Mavs have had in a very, very long time.

Are you shocked because you think it's too much or too little?
If it's the former, you probably didn't watch the finals. He was awesome.

I watched but I would thought his uneven reputation would have kept the numbers low
There's no way I would want him around Trae Young

Looking around the league, is it just me or did every playoff team in the West other than the Mavs and Lakers get worse?
Clippers- lost Harrell, overpaid for Morris.
Nuggets- lost Grant.
Rockets- Look they're about to blow it up and rebuild.
Thunder- Traded CP3. Clearly rebuilding.
Utah- Nothing noteworthy?
Blazers- Maybe the exception. Added Derrick Jones and Kanter. But who cares?

He's only hated by mavs fans it seems tbh. The rest of the NBA seems to have forgotten what he did
