I'd do Powell, Kleber and a first.
Can't believe I'm saying this, but I don't include Green. Mavs desperately need the energy he brings.

Myles Turner is a perennial All-Defense candidate and is shooting considerably better than KP from 3. He's also been much more durable than Porzingis.

Yea, it's def KP for me. Fair enough point about injuries, it has been a long frustrating road. On the floor though, Myles is way more likely to lay an egg than KP. Their production doesn't really compare. Even when we think KP isn't playing up to his potential, he's 20/8/2. Myles is 13/7/1. Idk. The list goes on really.

Carlisle definitely hella salty. For all Cuban’s faults, he was loyal to RC and Donnie. The nail in the coffin of the Donnie relationship was Donnie spilling the beans to Cato for that Athletic article. The nail in the coffin of the RC relationship was IMO firing Donnie.

Well so far Rick made the poor choice. And thank god he did. That FO was terribly inept top to bottom.
I could really care less if he doesn't want any of our players. Indiana is a sinking ship where everyone wants off and he is the captain.

There’s this subplot to the Simmons situation, too: As if the uncertainty that would come with taking on his massive deal isn’t enough, sources say the Sixers have been attempting to attach forward Tobias Harris and his sizable deal in possible Simmons deals with multiple teams as well (including Atlanta and Sacramento). The 29-year-old forward, who is averaging 18.4 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game, is owed a combined $79.4 million in the next two seasons. – via Sam Amick @ The Athletic
How do you package enough salary for those 2 guys?

Hey, at least Simmons wants to play here... https://twitter.com/TheHoopGenius/st...78113108029448.
I'd say KP for Simmons, but Philly would want the sun and the moon to go with it. So no thanks.

For all the early season talk of Mavs/Hawks Luka Trae talk, its nice to see them down at the 12 seed. Which is weird after the past season. Simmons would definitely help them.

I wonder if the Mavs can get involved as a third or fourth team in the Simmons trade… Maybe we give up some combination of Powell, Brunson, and Dorian Finney Smith for someone like Clint Capela.

No way I'm giving up DFS
Bullock or THJ can go but not DFS he's our best wing player overall

I read a report early in the season that said he'd love to play Simmons
But highly doubt the Mavs have the pieces to pull anything like that off.
I actually like a 3 man nucleus of Luka, Simmons and KP
I believe Kidd could figure out how to get best of them all

I just found another report about Simmons wanting to play for Dallas
https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nba...cid=uxbndlbing
Per a source in Simmons camp: his preferred teams in the West are Dallas and (Golden State). He realises GSW is highly unlikely and thinks Philly’s asking price is too steep. (Simmons) fears the 76ers may not trade him at all. - Mooncey via Twitter
If Simmons could buy into being a Draymond Green-like power forward, he could be the missing piece the Mavs have been looking for to thrust them into title contending status.

Mavs should consider packaging Brunson with THJ. Something like Brunson/ THJ for Evan Fournier/ Immanuel Quickley makes a lot of sense IMO.

For me to like Simmons its gonna depend on what type of package we have to give up to get him. But yeah Simmons is not a point guard. I'd say a Lamar Odom at best in this system. I'd feel more comfortable with him when Luka sitting on the bench for some time and having Simmons out there.

Yeah I wouldn't do that unless their's some salary cap relief involved but they just signed Fournier..i'd rather have Brunson than both Fournier and Quickley. I

Doesn't surprise me. He is borderline bad and is never healthy. He'll have an AMAZING game now and then that can't make up for his terrible games.

He’s 22 though. He’s inconsistent sure but is basically a prototypical 3-D with upside for more if he puts it together.

Is he good at D? Not if you ask Hawks fans...
Either way, Mavs officially won the trade.

Adrian Wojnarowski: Denver’s Bol Bol trade with Detroit has been voided, sources tell ESPN. The Pistons didn’t pass Bol on his physical with team.
JD Shaw: The Knicks have officially traded Kevin Knox and a conditional future first-round pick to the Hawks in exchange for Cam Reddish, Solomon Hill, a 2025 second-round pick and cash considerations. – via Twitter JShawNBA

With DFS moving off the 3 line this season and improving at the rim, I would want to keep him.
Package Kleber, who has looked good lately, along with Powell or whatever is needed to get a PF/C that can get inside.

Any interest in Mo Bamba? Not sure he is worth a first rounder, but not a terrible idea if Turner is off the table.

I love DFS and personally wouldn't want to trade him.
But if you could somehow land Turner with some form of package deal that includes DFS, Powell or THJ it might be worth the risk
Someone mentioned RC wasn't interested in Mavs players but I just read this rumor about DFS
https://thesmokingcuban.com/posts/ma...y-smith-trades
Fischer noted the Pacers as a suitor for Finney-Smith, but they would be far from the only team interested in acquiring the 28-year-old. Contending teams will be lining up, but it is hard to imagine the Mavericks improving their roster this season in the deal. The team’s defense is likely to take a step back, which is counterintuitive to head coach Jason Kidd’s philosophy.
If the Mavs pulled off a deal they could potentially start Josh Green and Turner down the stretch
Luka
Brunson
Green or Bullock (I prefer Green)
KP
Turner

Not sure if I'm smoking crack but......
Hawks get Ben Simmons
Mavs get John Collins
76ers get Kleber, Bullock, Jalen Brunson, Delon Wright and two future 1st round picks (from the Hawks)
I don't think Collins makes sense in Philly, but Kleber, Brunson, and Bullock do.

Morey ain't gonna do that. If you're the Mavs? Run to the NBA offices and finalize it before the other two change their minds.

But I'm also not sure I'd even offer a first for a guy who is expiring/RFA with this team so over the cap/tax, especially for one that plays the same position as KP and doesn't particularly move the needle.

Jake Fischer also says Mavs want John Collins and teams want DFS.
Knowing that Cuby doesn't want to spend the tax, I just can't see them not trading one of Brunson or Dodo at the deadline. Again, you can't risk letting them walk for nothing.

Only the Mavs would agree to that. The Hawks aren’t giving up Collins,Wright, and 2 firsts for Simmons.

From MMB
Step One: Trade Dorian Finney-Smith and Jalen Brunson
Because both players are up for a contract extension this offseason, the time to move them is now. As mentioned here, their low cap holds make bringing back a high-salary player complicated. Both Finney-Smith and Brunson will be overpaid in a worst-case scenario and properly paid in a best-case scenario. The pay them now and trade them later mantra is a myth. Pending free agents are like used cars, they lose value the second you drive them off the lot. Regardless of your opinion on them, trading them now maximizes their value. A contender can trade for both or either without taking on huge financial commitments going forward.

Brunson, Maxi and Bullock for Collins? Heck no. For Simmons maybe. If he’s on board.

If Cuban cheaps out I’m going to have a really hard time continuing along. Especially as Brunson should be under team control still and it was essentially Cuban’s f’up. And DoDo is on a bargain deal. Give DFS 4yr/48m, he’s earned it. Brunson gets a starting spot and 4/72. If he wants much more then s’n’t him somewhere. Descending contracts like THJ so they are trade chips going forward. Cuban is just going to have to pay the tax if he wants to contend with the big boys. It’s the price of not money whipping a guy like Masai.

I think even Cuban must realize what a bad look it would be for Dodo and Brunson to walk, two of our top four, in one offseason. It’s be like opening the door for Luka to walk.

Wait, is Dodo an NFT or crypto currency?
Why do we think Cuban cares if not?

Teams don't need the S&T when they can just sign Brunson outright.
Listen, nobody wants Powell or THJ, so you'll have to part with guys we like at some point. Trade while the value is high as long as the return makes sense.
Brunson is in the Eric Bledsoe situation he was in while playing behind Chris Paul on the Clippers (although Brunson is better than Eric). It's really tough because if Brunson was a RFA, then we hold all the cards. As it is, our best shot is a deadline trade. I just don't see Cuban paying 20-25 mil a year for him.
