Mavs at Portland - a test of the team
Are the Mavs just bad or did they just stumble against an elite team last night?
Mavs bounce back or fall back
THJ (broken foot)
Sterling (ankle)

I think Green with the extra minutes (hopefully) will have an awesome game tonight.

This is fun.
Blazers on a b2b after losing a heartbreaker.
And they have no interest in playing.

I agree, if he gets in the game! Kidd playing starters a ton of minutes again.

So on the back to back Luka played 22 of 24 first half minutes? Maxi played 20– which should be around what he plays for the entire game ideally. Kidd’s rotations have been so out of whack since he came back.

Yeah it’s not a good recipe. Very coach thibs of him.

they better reverse that - such a clear push off/elbow by CJ
edit - i wasn't sure what they were reviewing - no sound on. did they initially call foul on mavs? that's what i thought was going on.
i'm glad they did call it against CJ and wasn't expecting a flagrant though he clearly elbowed him/pushed off around the neck area

Refs give our leading scorer his fifth foul on the most blatant offensive fake in the game. Boo refs.

2 games back of Utah for the 4th seed
Maybe it' just me but I think THJ's injury might be a blessing in disguise because that's one less guy who is a defensive liability you have on the floor, and it also reduces the amount of bad 3's you would normally get with him in the lineup.
Also, if we could get Green's minutes up to around 20 per night and Chriss somehow manages 8-12 that really improves the athleticism of the team on a nightly basis and those two guys are always active.

His rotation/minutes management isn't what I'd be doing, but he doesn't suck.

And we gotta get Frank back in regular rotation.

yeah that was heat of the moment. I hate his rotation/minutes like Luka 22/24 first half minutes off a b2b.
Defensively, its working. Offensively, Im not a fan.
Chriss a few minutes, never saw him again. And if he keeps running Luka 38- 40 min nights (its not a habit yet), I could see him falling off at the end of the season. Doesnt mix enough scoring with some of his second units.
Still a work in progress

Yea. I hope the coaching cast realizes that certain guys are over exposed. Maxi, DP, used to be THJ need to be getting less mins to help Green, Frank and Chriss grow.

I just hope the coaching staff figures out that Porzingis is not good at post ups.
Kristaps Porzingis post up stats from NBA.com:
2020-2021: 3.7 per game, 49.2 FG%, 0.98 points per possession, 58.8 percentile.
2021-2022: 4.2 per game, 42.6 FG%, 0.89 points per possession, 45 percentile.
