Dinwiddie's talent was never in question. Just his health.

damn man - 17 points, 7 assists, zero TO - that's huge.
6-11 FG, 2-4 3p, 3-4 FT - game high +14 for +/-

It is time to give Powell credit. He has held down the fort a lot better than he should be.

What a win. This is the sort of game the Mavs of old would have dropped.

I’m getting huge NVE/Terry vibes from Dinwiddie
Maligned in his prior town. Reputation for being a tough teammate. Talented and tough as nails.

Curry is amazing - what a shooter and quick release and just a jitterbug you can't give even an inch. Mavs did a great job on him.
That being said, towards the end, they hunted him on switches and took it right at him time after time. Glad the mavs are looking for favorable match ups and sticking with that.
That and playing 4 on 3 after Luka passes out of the double team... glad DFS attacked the close out rather than settling for the 3. Mavs need to understand the double team on luka will come and run their offense sooner. If they wait until the last few seconds there's not enough time to swing the ball or attack off the bounce and someone will feel like they just need to jack it up. If you start the action sooner you have plenty of time to make the best choice and get a good shot up.

Someone on twitter compared Dinwiddie to Stackhouse, but I don't really see that. Stack couldn't shoot. Spencer has a much better shot, nice arc to it.
Even Terry and Nick the quick...not quite the same but closer than Stack.
I still say poor man's Luka. He is a 6'6 pg that has a nice first step but isn't super athletic, really good passer, gets to the rim with relative ease. Can hit the step back three. All that stuff sounds like Luka.

He is solid this year, yes. He needed a full season to get back to a decent level after the Achilles. Obviously still not a great player, but he is serviceable, and not a bad contract actually (not a good contract either).

Spencer Dinwiddie since the ASB
19pts, 6ast, 2reb, 60% from the field, 53% from three
KP the whole season
19pts, 8reb, 2ast, 45% from the field, 28% from three

He’s been amazing for us. So impressed by the way this team is competing and playing for each other. Great vibes all around.

SD probably won’t keep up the hot long and mid range shooting. But his two-way play, ball handling, and offensive facilitating will more than make up for it.

I can definitely give him credit so far. But I still think a series with the Nuggets or Jazz would present some issues in the front court. There's hope, but when it gets tougher in the playoffs, we will need to find ways to win while giving up big stats to types like Jokic and Gobert. The same can be applied to a number of teams, but it's a glaring weakness for this team, certainly not one they can't overcome.

Why do you keep comparing Dinwiddie to KP?
They play different positions and asked to do different things.
IMO the guy who Dinwiddie has replaced is THJ not KP
I think Bertans is more closer to guy who the Mavs wanted to replace KP in the way they are used offensively.

Yeah the center position is ok vs small ball
But I wouldn't be too confident with guys like Ayton, Gobert or Jokic as possible matchups in the playoffs
Those guys are most likely going to kill us on the offensive glass.

Oh, I'm not saying Powell is the answer, but he is put in a back against the wall position and done pretty well.
We need to upgrade that position this summer. Mitchell Robinson had a killer game last night. Just sayin'...

Sabonis is making Powell look like shit
But that's why I said vs small ball you can get away with him to a certain extent.
Come playoff time vs a legit big he'll probably get played off the floor.
