Default CBA help please: Regarding FA Signings

Could miami offer Odom a 3 or 5 year contract with a player option after just 1 year? that way, even if the clipps match, he can opt out and sign with Miami next year? but he's protected in case of injury etc?

Sorry, thought I was in the other forum.

Had to look it up.

No.

Options can only be in the last year of a deal. The exception is that an option may be for the last 2 years of a deal (technically called an early termination clause) if the contract is longer than 5 years.
