Philly's Allen Iverson and Sacramento's Webber earn January honor
Iverson, Webber Named Players of Month

NEW YORK, Feb. 1 -- Philadelphia 76ers guard Allen Iverson and Sacramento Kings forward Chris Webber today were named Eastern Conference and Western Conference Players of the Month, respectively, for games played in January. Iverson led the Sixers to an 11-4 record by averaging a league-high 32.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 2.27 steals, while Webber averaged 26.7 points, 10.2 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 2.18 blocks in leading the Kings to an 11-1 record.

Here is a look at highlights from the month for Iverson and Webber:

Allen Iverson, Philadelphia 76ers

Jan. 7 vs. L.A. Clippers: Recorded 30 points, 10 rebounds, 11 assists and four steals in a 116-92 win over the visiting Clippers.

Jan. 15 vs. Houston: Scored an NBA career and season-high 58 points in a 112-106 OT win over the Rockets.

Jan. 25 at Boston: Had 47 points, five assists and four rebounds in a 106-90 win over the Celtics.

Earned back-to-back Player of the Week honors on Jan. 21 and Jan. 28.

Scored 30 or more points nine times, including a streak of seven consecutive games.

Chris Webber, Sacramento Kings

Jan. 5 at Phoenix: Had 35 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and four blocks in the Kings 118-115 victory over the Suns.

Jan. 6 vs. Milwaukee: Recorded 28 points, 12 rebounds and nine assists in a 115-101 win over the Bucks.

Jan. 15 vs. Cleveland: Had 34 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists in a 109-102 win over the Cavaliers.

Led the Kings in scoring on seven occasions and in rebounding six times.

Had 30 points or more three times, and 20 points or more in 10 games.
Other Eastern Conference candidates for NBA Player of the Month included Boston's Paul Pierce, Detroit's Ben Wallace and Jerry Stackhouse, Miami's Eddie Jones, New Jersey's Jason Kidd, Orlando's Tracy McGrady and Washington's Michael Jordan.

Western Conference candidates for NBA Player of the Month included Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki, Houston's Steve Francis, Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers and San Antonio's Tim Duncan.

well, dirk had a great month...however, his last two games..when finley came back..well, it kinda went down hill from there...
no wonder the mavs went 1-1 instead of 2-0
