It's in the Mavs section because it would be SOO cool to get him in a Mavs uniform.

CHINESE TELL LAYDEN THAT MING WILL PLAY
New York Post
By MARC BERMAN
March 6, 2002 -- Knicks GM Scott Layden was told during his trip by Chinese basketball officials that 7-6 center Yao Ming will definitely play in the NBA next season - erasing an uncertainty that had scared off some league GMs.
Layden scouted one of Ming's games, watched him practice and spoke with team officials last weekend.
"I had a very good trip to China," Layden said. "Ming is a very talented guy with a lot of potential. It was a very positive scouting trip. He has a lot of potential in the little chance I got to see him. He's got a lot of skills, a lot of talent. I was impressed."
Duke point guard Jason Williams and Ming are expected to go 1-2 in the draft. If the Knicks finish the season where they are - with the seventh-worst record - they have just a two percent chance of winning the lottery. The NBA announced yesterday the draft will be held June 26 at the Garden's Theatre, with Ming in attendance.
