Alan Iverson might have had a bum knee, but cops say he still isn't allowed to park his $320,000 Rolls in a handicapped parking spot.

The 76ers guard, who has been in trouble before for parking in handicapped spaces, was ticketed earlier this week after police said he parked his black Rolls-Royce Phantom in a handicapped slot in Garage A at Philadelphia International Airport. The fines totaled at least $300, police said.

He picked up the car about 11 o'clock last night, according to an airport police officer.

"I saw him walk up to the car and drive away. He had his posse with him," the officer said.

Airport spokesman Mark Pesce would not comment.

In 1999, an official at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, the Sixers' practice site, said he had been aware of an occasion when Iverson had parked in a handicapped spot and moved the car when asked.

At that time, then-team president Pat Croce recalled lecturing Iverson about another instance of parking in a handicapped spot.

"I said, 'I hope to God you never have an injury where you have to use that spot,' " Croce said.

big deal outta nothing. if i had a car that expensive i could care less about the fine. id park mine in a handicap space too. why park it with the rest of the cars when yours cost about 10 times as much. good goin AI, thats the smart thing to do, whether u agree or not, who cares. i see some car envy going on, thats what i see

Does AI have any endorsement deals?

Other athletes, such as Allen Iverson, have bad-boy images that appeal to smaller, niche groups of consumers. While such athletes won't command the endorsement dollars of celebrities with all-American images such as Bryant, they often get endorsement contracts with companies that want to capitalize on their renegade images.

“Reebok is positioned as a product that is more edgy, more risk-taking,” says Paul of the sneaker company with which Iverson has an endorsement contract. “That's why that was a perfect fit for Iverson.” While Iverson's run-ins with the law, such as an investigation into allegations that he had threatened two men with a gun last year, did not threaten his Reebok contract, other athletes haven't fared as well.

Remember Reebok next time you want to buy a pair of over-priced sneakers. Reebok has clearly decided that the value of a celebrity endorsement from AI is worth more to them than the market buying power of handicapped consumers. I guess that wheelchair-bound sneaker wearers just don't put enough miles on the tread for Reebok.

Parking in handicapped parking is tacky.
