For the pessimists, what's the worst that can happen?
Just so that we get our pessimism out of the way, what do you guys think would be the worst case scenario for the Mavs this off season?
If the following all occur, it would be a tough off-season: 1. Nash signs up with another team (although I don't truly believe it, he sometimes comes across as a principle over money type guy....) 2. Marquis signs up with another team... 3. Walker gets nabbed by the Bobcats and traded to some other team which is then able to get Shaq.... 4. Dirk volunteers to play in an Olympic warm-up for another Olympic bound team (yes, I know Germany was eliminated from the Olympics - however they ofter play warm-ups for other Olympic bound teams). Dirk proceeds to snap both of his ankles..... What are some other combinations that can occur? If this thread is repetitive, then by all means delete it...

Cubes give the Mavs to Nellie. The Mavs trade Dirk to Indiana for Croshere and filler. The Mavs new uniforms turn out to be bright pink. The Maniacs perform in the costumes chosen and sized for the Mavs dancers. Nellie acquires 5 players under 6' and decides to start them for all the games. Nellie moves the Mavs to Hawaii so he can live in his hom on Maui.

If all the other predictions come true, then I'm not sure that's a bad thing. |

Worst that could happen?
Walker stays a Maverick and plays for the whole season...then walks after the season with the Mavs getting nothing.

The Mavs get strung along AGAIN this offseason trying to aquire Shaq, Tag signs with another team, Nash signs elsewhere, Daniels is offered more playing time and more money than the MLE and signs elsewhere leaving us without a legit PG, and no depth at the gaurd slots, and Fortson is our starting center again. Walker is nabbed by the bobcats tonight. Leaving us the line-up of:
pg: ???? Barry maybe? sg:Finley/howard sf:Jamison/howard pf[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]irk C: Fortson/Bradley thats pretty sickning if you think about it, i'm going to another thread [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

Too many permutations of bad things that can happen but this has got to be one of the worst. Let me add, Nellie insists on small ball with Walker at the point.

the absolute worst thing that can happen.
Nash leaves Daniels leaves Walker stays and is forced to be the starting pg Dirk is traded to the Lakers for Shaq, who then misses most of the season because Danny Fortson steps on his injured toe. Jamison traded to boston for Raef, and finally, in order to fill the holes left by all of that, the Mavs use the exceptions to sign Tarpley and Rodman
