RE: Did my eyes deceive me or did...
madape.... we don't want "our guy" being the scorer.
So I would say that is a win.

I'm pleased as pie wiht Damps effort. I didn't get to watch the game thanks to the Satanic Waco Cablevision, but from what I've read he did great. Looking forward to watching tonight on FSSW. Thank goodness for Fox!

RE:Did my eyes deceive me or did...
I think Brad Miller is one of the most underrated centers in the league......he is just a gamer.......
But I think Damp had a good game........if he provides that performance on a routine basis, I will be happy.......
11 pts
5 rbs
2 blocks
and enabling the guards to play more man-up because they KNOW someone has their back in the paint

if 11 pts, 5 boards, and 2 blocks were bradley's stat line, the list of compliments would never cease.
i was on the anti damp wagon as much as anybody, but we should probably cut the guy a little slack.

RE: Did my eyes deceive me or did...
His performance and the way he changes the game is what matters, not his stat line. His stats will probably vary greatly with the different teams he matches up with. Some teams he should be able to abuse, other teams he should be at a draw with the opposing center.

ya see ape, the thing about Dampier is that he's not a puss like Bradley and LaFrentz...

RE: Did my eyes deceive me or did...
I'm very happy to have Damp, but Fortson could have given us 6 points and 5 rebounds in ten minutes. Bradley in 23 minutes could give you another 8 points and 6 boards with 2 blocks.
I liked what I saw mostly out of Dampier, but 5 rebounds is pitiful.

It's just like before, you tell me why Walker deserved to play ahead of Fortson and Bradley.
You seem to run your mouth with opinions and continually fail to back up your opinion with any stats facts or reasoning. So please tell why why Walker deserved to be on the court.
As far as Bradley goes, tonight he had terrible stats. But if you were watching eveytime he came in, the Mavs took big leads.

Whereas,
fact:
fortson sucks ass,
and fact:
fortson is fat,
and fact:
fortson is a black hole on offense,
and fact:
fortson was a whiny b*tch behind the scenes,
and fact:
fortson couldn't grasp nellie's offense and was continually out of position,
and fact:
bradley gets no respect from refs and can't stay in a game more than 15 minutes and is foul prone.
and fact:
your takes suck because you constantly bring up points that have nothing relevant to what the thread is about.
i hearby dismiss you to the message board hell known as mavs talk. you are the weakest link. good bye. if you choose to post here again, everyone is welcome to laugh at you and roll their eyes.

True

Walker is totally inefficient, not everyone needs to score, teams need role players. Fortson is efficient, he makes the few shots he takes and makes his free throws.

So was Walker. Fortson had a reason to whine.

Nelson could not grasp how to use his players. See Walker. He could have been better utilized on the bench.

True, but like tonight, he fouled out but changed the game when he was in.

The thread is about Damps 11 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks in 34 minutes. Everyone seem pretty pleased with that. I'm not too impressed.

RE:Did my eyes deceive me or did...
Seriously, I know everyone else has already said it, but I will for emphasis' sake. Dampier wasn't brought here for stats. I don't care if does nothing but get 8-5-1 every night. If his presence lets other guys get easy buckets, clears the lane for them to get rebounds, and alters opponents shots, I will be thrilled. In the first two games, I have seen a Mavs center who makes himself a presence in the lane. That is something that Fortson could never do. For that matter, Bradley doesn't do it either - not in that physical sort of way.
By the way, anyone watching that Seattle game probably notices that Fortson isn't much of a difference maker there either. Watch him turn it on and get 20 and 15 now that I said that

I don't know who watched the game last night, but Nellie used Bradley perfectly last night. The box score may not show it, but Bradley played better than Damp for most of the game. I know that he fouled out in 16m. I know that he didn't score on the one shot he took. I know that he got a couple of fouls called because he is Shawn Bradley and not KG or TD (no respect). But he impacted the game. You could see it. This is the reason that you don't trade Shawn Bradley for junk.
<edit>
Bradley 16 min, Damp 31 min --- I think big Shawn was right....put enough Big men out there, and Nellie will have to start playing them.

RE:Did my eyes deceive me or did...
Nellie did a very good job of playing and utilizing his centers tonight IMO. This is more like what I want to see for the rest of the season. Bradley didn't have an empressive stat line, but he played hard and was an effective role player which is what the Mavs need most out of him. I think that the the Damp/Bradley tandem gives the Mavs one of the best center rotations in the league and definitely one of the best shot blocking tandems if not the best.
