Why do you call a timeout down by 7 with 14 seconds left. Show some class guys. It's over.

Steady if unspectacular game by the Mavs. A win is a win. I'll take it anytime
Now, do we root for the Lakers or the Spurs? I'll rather have a Lakers win to help us secure the Midwest title and #2 seed.

<< Why's Raef not out there? >>
For one, the Wizards are playing a fairly small line-up. And second Nellie wanted Griffin on Jordan at all times so Griffin was getting minutes Raef would normally get at the end of the game.
Why did Buckner not get any time on Jordan?

I hate the Lakers, but a 2 game cushion would be nice.

Man, what a game.
Griffin has done a AWESOME job on MJ defensively and more importantly did it while not fouling out. I question some of the shots he's taken and I saw Nelson chewing his butt out for it.
Finley has had a solid game quietly...very quietly.
Dirk was incredible in the first half, hit big shots in the 2nd, grabbed rebounds and played good defense.
NVE has been huge all day long. Getting to the basket and scoring left and right.
Nash was off in the first half, but hit big 3's late in the game and found the open man.
Raef was exceptional defensively, grabbed rebounds and blocked/altered shots.
On the flip side, Courtney Alexander burned us. Good grief, he must have loved that.
Good win for our guys. Now let's hope the Lakers kill the Spurs.

Very unspectacular. I still say the Mavs should have dominated this team.

We can't lose either way. Lakers win and we are up 2 games for the Midwest lead. Spurs win and we are still one game up and we are tied with Lakers for 2nd best record in the league.

Hopefully it's not because of any health issues. Maybe Nellie just wanted to give Griff a good workout, since he hasn't played for a while

Great win by the Mavs - the defensive job by Griffin was the key. Jordan didn't have a field goal until there was only 8 minutes left in the game.
Here's hoping the Lakers win (I'm only barely controlling the retch reflex when I say that).

I wondered the same thing, I imagine it was a combination of Griffin's exceptional job and that MJ could shoot over Buckner more easily than Griffin.

Hoops- I thought that this would be a close game coming in. The Wizards are fighting for the last playoff spot and we just put them 2.5 games out. They lost a very important game. The Mavs are clearly superior this year, but I knew this would be a close game.

Any win on the road is difficult. Very few teams could have gutted out a win on the road against Jordan who is desperately trying to make the playoffs.

Buckner has a bad back and was calling for a sub throughout the game according to Nash's postgame comments. That's probably why.

Thanks for the info. Gosh, let's hope Griffin and Buck can stay healthy, they'll be a huge factor for us in the playoffs.
I was just thankful that Brendan Haywood wasn't available for this game, I couldn't watch him have another layup drill like he did the first time around.

Even with a hand in his face, he couldn't miss. Great picture.

Nash was actually referring to Griff. Griff wanted to be subbed because he was tired.

From early AP wire:
"Jordan was brutal in the first three quarters, missing all seven of his shots while making just a pair of free throws."
Wish they'd given Griff the credit.

Dirk was confused. He was really confused. Joey said Blue, then pointed to white and I am sure that the language thing was a problem here. To Joey's credit, he said he made a mistake. That is refreshing.

I guess this is the first good pic I've seen of Dirk's elbow pad. That thing looks massive in the above pic.

I just noticied something interesting about the Wiz box score - Courtney was the only player on their team without an assist. Read into it what you want.

Here's the whole story from ESPN
Griffin became the Jordan defensive specialist, playing 34 minutes and finishing with five fouls and four steals.
"I about wore him out," coach Don Nelson said. "I played him more in one game than I played him in a month. I did it because he had shut Jordan down in the first half. Whether it was him or the weather or whatever, I didn't want to take a chance on subbing. He called a couple of times -- he was so tired -- I said `No' and looked the other way, which a coach can do."

That's because he was so busy killing us offensively. I forgot how high he could jump too. Crazy hops.
But, I'll take Fin, Griffin and Buckner over him that's for sure. I don't miss his attitude at all.
