The Baby Gap continues to hurt the blue states:

Arizona, Florida, Texas and Utah would each gain one seat in the U.S. House of Representatives if districts were reapportioned today, according to an analysis by American City Business Journals.

Iowa, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania, on the other hand, would each lose a seat.

Bush’s victory in a reapportioned Electoral College would be 288-250, as opposed to his actual margin of 286-252 over Kerry.

This shift has been going on for decades. President Bush gained 7 electoral votes because of the 2000 census. After the 2010 census, the Democrats will lose another 5-10 electoral votes because of the population shift to the red states.

It seems that it hasn't occured to you that the in migration mentioned may alter the voting patterns in these 3 states. The result may be (as is the case of AZ) the states may be more purple at the end of the day.

"may"....But I doubt it... The south and the west in general are (imo obviously) made up of people much more interested in opportunity and independance than income redistribution. Having ACLU, Michael Moore, Jesusland, Redneck labels thrown out by the dems don't look like winning strategies to me.
