Think about it. The Mavs are like Bruce Lee and every round/floor gets harder and harder with the opponent using different styles. First round vs the Rockets, the Mavs found a team with a big center and a big scoring threat. Aside from that, they had not so potent weapons. Next round, the Mavs are facing a potent offense. Balanced but they are a donut. No true center. Furthermore, its like fighting an old ally. Throw all friendships aside for this one. Get over him and you are truly a master. The next round against the Spurs will probably be the most balanced team. Its an old foe who has defeated you before. But today is a different day and a different team led by a different coach. The Mavs have adapted a semi slow game based on defense and half-sourt sets. Much like the Spurs. Again, AJ is facing an old teacher. Get over him and you know you have surpassed your potential. In the Final round, its against the Pistons or the Heat. Both are good and you haven't encountered them before too often so you only know their style thru videos.

personally I think we are going through a flat out gauntlet here. we have the toughest road to the finals of anyone still in the playoffs, and if we win this series, we have to be the favorites out of the west.

Yup. They probably have the hardest path for any team. I would say Kareem is Yao. A freak of nature and no one else is like him. Well, Shaq of course.
