Draft talk
NO one interested in the draft. i know we dont have a pick but it looks like many players are dropping. We might be able to get who we were targetting with a trade into the first round.

RE:Draft talk
Look for Donnie to grab some prime international players that are left out of the draft. The international players are dropping like a rock. I am sure there are some keepers that aren't drafted.

RE: Draft talk
I think the fact that next years draft will probably be the worst ever will make it more difficult to get a pick. There are some nice players who are dropping like rocks...somebody's going to get a steal in Gerald Green.

Right on cue Danny Ainge gets another steal. They've got a good draft going.

Much less now considering they got their man in Gerald Green. I was really hoping to see the Mavs trade for Green.

RE: Draft talk
Just fyi on the trades. David Lord was talking about the rules on the radio, and if there are trades involving picks they can't be made until after the pick is made if they don't get done before the draft begins. So the fact we haven't yet heard anything about the Mavs doesn't necessarily mean that one of these guys isn't headed to Dallas.

Screw China and their primitive Stalin-era Eugenic experiments. Andriuskevicius is just a good old-fashioned Eastern European giant with great verticle leap and a jumpshot... and the freak can run the floor to boot!
China can keep their walking cripples. I'll take Pavel and Andriuskevicius and ride the freaks to world domination!

RE: Draft talk
Interesting comment from Sean May:
------------------------------------------------------------
Radha: Marvin Williams with 1 year of college experience goes 2nd. What do you think of that?
Sean May: (10:11 PM ET ) It's a business. It's what the team needed, what they liked, what they saw. Is it justified? No, but they saw potential.

I have a hunch the Mavs may get their future Finley replacement in CJ Miles...

You could be right Chum, Tom over on the LMF board posted this a few minutes ago:
FYI guys... the Mavs had called a press conference for a few moments ago in the AAC but they have now delayed that as something may apparently be in the works.

RE: Draft talk
Apparently Miles said that if he didn't get drafted in the first round, he would take advantage of the rule that allows him to go to school (and go to UT). Seems odd that Utah would spend a pick there and not get anything out of it. But makes perfect sense that the guy would want to play for Dallas.

RE: Draft talk
Utah brought him in for a workout and I heard that they liked him. They were looking at him at 27 before they traded it.
I'd like to have him because he's a local kid but he's nowhere near being ready to contribute...he's going to need a couple of years.

RE: Draft talk
Chum if he goes to school, Utah keeps his rights for 4 years...that's why despite what he said, I doubt he'll go to school because he can't improve his draft position. The only reason to go to school is if he thinks he can't make the team because 2nd rounders don't get gaurenteed contracts.

Andriuskevicius's slide is further proof you can't listen to Chad Ford when it comes to Euros...this guy was supposed to be a lottery pick for the past three years.

RE: Draft talk
Sounds like it benefits a team a lot, then, to take a high schooler in the second and let a school develop him. Great scenario for the Jazz, assuming they don't mind waiting for the kid to develop.

If Skevey ends up coming to Dallas in a trade that nickname's absolutely got to stick. LMAO.

I wonder if maybe the Mavs just don't have much that anybody else wants. (Besides the things they are unwilling to give, that is.)

Tom hasn't posted anything else on the LMF board. Talk about teasing. No word whether the delay is from a snag in a possible deal or if the Mavs might be working on something else.

RE: Draft talk
Glock posted this on the LMF board. Why call a press conference if you got nothing?
they just showed an exerpt of Donnie/press conference. He said not much going on at this point despite the fact they were working on someting in the first and early second. Snooore bout right

Usually 2nd rounders are cheap but with the age limit in the new CBA next years draft will be horrible so nobody wants to defer their pick.
It also could be the fact that 2nd rounders now have more value because you can send them to the minors.
