Good lord, Chum... Ben Gordon, Antoine Walker, Rasheed Wallace, and Jet Terry? Why not throw in Jalen Rose and Q Richardson while you're at it.

I was listing 20 others, but of course, go ahead and replace your least favorite with Dirk.
I'm just saying that any one of those players could go off for 50 against the Warriors defense, if they had only one other offensive player on their team. Terry? Crap, if he had taken a bit less than half Dirk's shots tonight, he would have been the one with 50!

The Warriors gave up 121 tonight, on 54%. Hell, the Super Spare went off for a season high ten, while Dirk was scoring half a hundred and Terry was chipping in 30.
I'm just saying, there wasn't a lot of defense to go around. If Tony Delk really did score 50, then trust me, it was on a night like this.

Chum, maybe I'm misunderstanding you.
Upthread, you made the casual statement that Dirk was a "top 20 offensive player" in the game.
Now you're just saying that twenty other guys could've scored fifty points against the Warriors defense.
Which is it? Are you backtracking, or did I misunderstand you from the get go?

Well, hell, if it's like that, then there's probably 40-50 guys who could do what Dirk did tonight in the same situation.
Joe Johnson
Stephon Marbury
Steve Francis
Bonzi Wells
Mike James
Mike Bibby
Ron Artest
Stephen Jackson
Baron Davis
Larry Hughes
Shawn Marion
Manu Ginobili
Tony Parker
Elton Brand
Cuttino Mobley
Michael Redd
Al Harrington
Andre Iguadala
Yao Ming
Eddy Curry
Rip Hamilton
Chauncey Billups
I guess Dirk's somwhere on that list.

It's a funny and somewhat sad thing that whenever people first think of either "Stephon Marbury" or "Steve Francis", the next player that will immediately cross their minds is the other one.
"Steph and Steve", "Steve and Steph".

I imagine it's because they're both egocentric, self-centered, undersized, volume-shooting, defensless, overpaid PG's. And now they're one the same team.

The New York Knickerbockers would instantly become my favorite team if they were somehow able to acquire Baron Davis, Gary Payton, and oh...I dunno...Damon Stoudamire. That just seems appropriate doesn't it.
I (and many of my fellow fans) would pay good good money to watch that team. Stern should get on the horn ASAP.

Ouch. Yeah it still hurts. I really think Dirk could have strengthened his case for MVP honors had we won last night.

I think we are beginning to see the effects of fatigue on the Mavericks. It's especially becoming a problem with the point guards and swingman.
Stackhouse is looking old for the first time. I think Terry is beginning to wear down as well.
The weak defense last night, and the missed free throws at the end are signs that the Mavs are getting tired. I think the New Jersey game was similar.
The center position, where we don't have injuries, isn't effected as much. Nor is Dirk--his minutes have gone up only slightly. But we need somebody back who can play a few minutes at 1, 2, or 3--or it's likely that player's will continue to wear down.

You can point to fatigue on stackhouse but in general I don't think it's fatigue that much for the rest of the guys.
I think that the guys we are missing bring a lot more than the ones we have in there.
Josh finishes a lot better than Marquis does and doesn't turn it over as much.
Rawle is doing okay for a rook, but he's just hanging around and griffin does NOT make mistakes.
In the last two losses we've had 20 TO's against GSWs and 17 against NewJersey. Versus our averages of 14. New Jersey killed us in the first quarter and the we never recovered shooting wise.
In those games Marquis' TO/AST ratio has been 8/4... Jason was obviously trying to uptempo the GSW game. I'd sort of like to see Marquis replace Griff for defensive purposes but 8tos to 4 assists is NOT going to cut it.
