Howard on the Jim Rome Show
Recap stolen from Uwe Blab at DB.com:
Quote:
Josh did a good interview.
Recap:
*He said they plan to play tougher D.
*That they respected the Heat.
*He also spoke of playing Wade back in college.
*He said it has been amazing playing with Dirk and the things that a 7 footer can do.
*Josh predicted Dirk could score 100 in a game if he and the coach and team him wanted to.
*He said that Devin will play Wade alot because he did good things against him during the season. He plans to also play on him as well.
* He said that Avery is the best coach he has ever played for.
* He also said that he leads by example and is not vocal.
Jim said that the karma is with Dallas because Miami has not been in yet.

Devin guarding Wade..interesting.
I was convinced we would have to go back to Griff in the starting lineup.

If Devin can spend some time guarding Wade, that means that Walker has to guard Howard on the other end.
I like Avery's thinking.

for the first 3 minutes at least-- the time it would take for Walker to pickup 2 fouls

May be Avery wants to use Devin/Terry the same way he did against the Spurs... just speed up the game and take it to the rack on the slightest of opportunities! Not a bad idea as long as Wade doesn't torch 'em on the other end.
It'll be interesting to see how the 4th quarter gets played out, especially since Wade's such a strong finisher in there.

I think when Terry AND Devin are both on the floor, Killer almost needs to be too, especially with Shaq or Zo in there.. he can spread the floor and it'll be a layup line...

There is a big break between series, a 2 day break after game 1 and then 3 games in five days-- another two day break if the series continues and then another 3 games in 5 days

Okay, okay, maybe I'm remembering Antawn, not Antoine, but he is a poor defender.

wade is not in the same speed bracket as Devin...they are similar in the fact that they both like to attack the rim and both have questionable range...

Wade has way more range then Devin these days, he's been hitting a handful of threes in the playoffs, though i still prefer him shooting over driving for us.

he's had one good series in these playoffs where he made a strong 6-9 for the entire series...
in the other two series he has shot an amazing 29%. 29% is good only in comparison to the 17.1% he shot in the regular season...

I doubt it but if Griffin is in the lineup than Walker would guard Grifin and Wade guard Howard. At least that is a possibility for the Heat to take turns on mixing it up on Howard. Now they are forced to put Walker or Haslem on Howard. I actually think Haslem would be a better fit to guard Howard and Walker to guard Dirk since it won't matter who guards Dirk. Miami has lots of options but none of them are good.

29 should keep a defender honest, but it shouldnt be his first concern. 1-1 1/2 steps back is fine. A guy like Reggie Miller you'd hug, a guy like Harris, you'd give 2-3 steps to.

never said he's great at them, just that he's been hitting some...and he has. His deep jumpers have been pretty on too. But like i said, i prefer him taking those.

Well said interview by Josh. I like how he said Dirk could score 100 if they wanted or needed him too.

Wade got relatively hot for like 4 games on 3s. Anyone can get hot for a short time period. I mean he was really only hot for 9 attempts. Every three dwade takes is a bad shot. Every single one. As for the speed thing yes devin is faster and quicker but wade is probably the quickest starting 2 in the league. He is extremely fast/quick himself. There is a reason his nickname is flash. If you want to see how similar they are/were look up their respective draft profiles. They are almost identical.

What I see in wade is a quicker more competitive marbury/baron davis. He's pretty stout for a 2 guard, but he doesn't shoot as well. I think if he doesn't get one this year then he'll be out of luck since he needs someone like shaq to take the "heat" off of him.
