Default Stan Lee's 'Who Wants To Be A Superhero' Renewed

October 18, 2006

Stan Lee's Pow Entertainment has inked a deal with NBC Universal that will result in a second expanded season of the reality series, Who Wants To Be a Superhero. The series, which was a summer hit on the Sci-Fi Channel this year, will be expanded from six to ten episodes for its second season.

During its first season this summer the show doubled the time period's year-to-date numbers in the all-important 18-34 demographic, and brought an estimated 2.9 new viewers to the Sci-Fi Channel including lots of young viewers. Thirty percent of the show's audience was under 18, and the series' median age of 31.9 was 14 years younger than Sci-Fi's primetime average.

The winner of the first season of Who Wants To Be a Superhero was "Feedback," aka Matthew Atherton, whose Feedback character will star in its own Dark Horse comic book that is due out in late November.

Whoo hoo....nerd news.

Just kidding MFFL. I watched it once. They were running a course and had to pass by a kid crying and helf of them ran by the little whiner. The show was fairly goofy and that one dude looked like a gay superman model. But I have heard a lot of people talk about it so it does apparently have a following.

i watched the whole show last season. captain hero was by far the best.

i had two problems with the show:

1) it seemed so obviously staged. and i mean ridciulously obviously staged.

2) the reasons stan booted people from the show - he would say things like "a superhero doesn't make fun of people." "a superhero doesn't crack jokes all the time." um, one of your most famous creations, Stan, does that ALL the time. that's spider-man's thing.

he also kept talking about captain hero's past as a male stripper, and how that was negative. and throughout the whole show, stan is sitting in front of a picture of one of his other creations, stripperella. amazing.

but it was funny, and campy. decent summer tv.

either feedback or captain hero should have won (feedback won, of course). fat momma was a joke.
